I like David Packman's work. He's an effective advocate for Democrats and their views. I also like BTC's work as well. One can be both troubled by revelations in the Wired article and consider the subjects of it highly competent and good advocates for your views. It's not one or the other.

There are specific claims in that article. I specified a few of them in my top post. Because I read it. I'd encourage you to do the same, rather than reflexively defend popular influencers like BTC and David Packman. They both have big platforms and are well capable of defending themselves.
Just address the claims in the article itself. One of them appears to have fallen. But so far the rest hold. Do these claims bother you? They bother me. And I consider myself a liberal centrist. I voted Harris and Biden and think Biden was an excellent President.

Yes. I'm aware of that story. Tim Pool, Benny Johnson, and others took money from Kremlin sources laundered through a private company in the US. They claim no wrongdoing. (Though did not return the money) But that outrage is not a funding model, it's a crime. We agree on a lot here.

I've been following you for years. Your work I know and like. That article by Lorenz is the only one of hers I've read. Your experience with her matters to me because I like your work. But I don't want to discount the article purely on inside baseball grounds. In time, this will sort out. Thank you.
I don't know Lorenz and haven't read her past work. But I don't want to judge the content of this article by her past tangles with other writers, creators, or activists. That may be context in judging the whole of her work, but not specifics in one piece. Those allegations are either true, or not.
Her taking 8k/mo undisclosed may go to Lorenz's narrative bias. Perhaps even her hypocrisy. But you're a journalist. You follow the specific claims and either refute, or not. I read the article on initial publication and didn't see the update. I'll look again and rethink.
I don't know Lorenz and have only read this article by her. But I was impressed by it. I won't discount your lived experience with her. I can't speak to that. All I have is what was published by Wired. If facts fall against that story, I'll change my mind. But I found it compelling.

Author has quotes on the record from multiple participants, along with copies of the actual contract. Examples of creators who skirt contract terms is not proof of there being no contract. Neither BTC nor Pakman have responded on point to these specific allegations.
The article also quotes academics who present ethics and campaign finance concerns. It's legitimate journalism. Just because these creators are on our political team doesn't mean they are beyond criticism.
Criticisms in the article include that participants in Chorus sign an NDA which prevents them from revealing their affikiation, a contract which requires the creator to use talking points and material provided by Chorus, requires them to use Chorus to obtain political interview subjects.

David Pakman spins but does not refute the claims in that Wired story. I've watched David and BTC for years. I think they're good on-air talent and I often agree with sentiments they espouse. But I know good journalism when I read it, and that article is the real deal. It impacts my trust.
