This is a valid question. I live 25 miles from the nearest grocery stores. I can choose Walmart or HyVee. If you’re familiar with both stores, you know why folks like me still shop at Walmart. It’s all about cost. Hyvee groceries are often 1.5x what I’d spend on Walmart groceries.

Then I blocked a ton of "big" accounts just cause. :) And I set up my own feeds.. so I can just see about the puppies and kitties or Author Talk etc. It takes a bit of learning but you can bend this thing to suit your interests. Lastly, you do eventually find likeable people. Like me :)

I’ll never understand why journalists are still using Twitter. The site is 8chan, and the owner throttles their content.

I can see going on nazi twitter to provide material for a story, but to actively post on there is just helping a nazi earn revenue.

I jumped ship years ago before it ever became X. I recognized its toxicity rather quickly and deactivated my account within a couple of months. I knew back then it was a hellhole.

Some accounts I looked at regularly - a couple local weather forecasters, national security expert Juliette Kayyem - made accounts here, but only post sporadically, while regularly posting on X. I don’t get it - especially with Kayyem - she should read her replies - it’s a total cesspool.

The best time was when Musk took over. The second best time is now.
