My question for the REST of the Democrats...why aren't YOU doing the same? All I see is Bernie, AOC and Jasmine out there, pushing back. What about the House and Senate leadership? Is it that all the crap has not affected you or your constituents...yet?

Quit talking about the Democrats. The very worst of them is worth their weight in gold compared to any buffoon at the capital right now. Focus needs to be 100% on Trump, Musk and Republicans. I am so sick of this.

If the US can’t stomach voting for a highly qualified woman (twice), then it’s not ready to vote for a highly qualified gay man to be president any time soon. Pete would make a fantastic president, but American voters won’t be ready until the Boomers are gone…and probably half of Gen X.

All things considered, everyone knew what was at stake and, still, 36% sat this one out and Trump won the majority vote. I think it’s less about the Dem candidates and more about 1) Dem focus on niche issues, 2) ~78M racist fucking idiots who could be beat if it wasn’t for 3) collective apathy.

I’ve seen other nervous Democrats say the same, but I haven’t seen anyone say they won’t vote for him because of his sexuality. In fact, I’ve seen the opposite. In Iowa & New Hampshire Pete won far more of the districts that went from Obama to Trump, and many people switched parties to vote for him.

Because Dems by and large are on the same side as the Reps: the donor class. They won't be affected much, and they can't really hear the cries of their constituents over the yapping of their donors. Remember: we need to think of the "good billionaires" as the new DNC Chair put it.

All blue states should unite and prevent companies from sending federal taxes to the federal government, instead requiring the states to collect and retain those funds. Our nation is under siege! Our democracy has been stripped, and our freedom is fleeting. Big things must be done to preserve it.

feb 23, 2025, 10:06 pm • 3 0 • view

machelled.bsky.social @machelled.bsky.social

No, what I’m saying is republicans are just as responsible for upholding democracy as dems and everyone is just focusing on where the dems are. Republicans need to be held accountable as well.

feb 24, 2025, 2:01 pm • 0 0 • view
avatar
Nick @syngrey.bsky.social

Well the dems are supposed to be the opposition party to fascism, so yes, a lot of focus should be on calling them out for their inaction and bs about bipartisanship. Obviously Republicans need to be held accountable, that would be easier if dems were not trying to pretend this is all normal.

I agree but I’m really tired of republicans getting a pass at every damn turn. All of them represent us and none of them are doing what we voted them in to do, even the republicans. Dems are fighting against something none of us have seen, how do you do it?

feb 24, 2025, 2:53 pm • 1 0 • view
avatar
Nick @syngrey.bsky.social

I don't think Republicans are getting a pass. They might not be getting quite as much attention because we expect them to be ineffective fascists. A large portion of the population believes democrats are in opposition to that, and they should start acting like it.
