It’s a reason I took early retirement.
Unfortunately over the decades I worked with many of the kind of people flying those planes. The majority of pilots I shared cockpits with were right-leaning, and many were outright racist, homophobic, and anti-immigration. Every airline I worked for would have had no problem crewing these flights.
I just can't help but wonder what kind of people are piloting aircraft full of children who are being flown to another country without due process. It's a choice. Flying aircraft for ICE and DHS is a choice.

But I agree with others it’s way too early to declare him the nominee, so I’m hoping for a better candidate and better from the party between now and then.
Trans folks voted overwhelmingly for Harris. Since then we feel betrayed, that commitment to our rights is being abandoned by the party in general, and Newsom in particular. A vote for Newsom would be hoping a future generation might win back the rights he’ll give away. Might be our only hope.
Same worries are with me always, too. I don't have the website concern, of course, but it's quite plausible that I might lose my license and livelihood during this administration. Yet despite it all I'm happy and I love my life. I'm thankful for each day and learning to live in the present.

This from Riley Gaines is why trans people freak out when Democrats try to carve out some compromise over sports. The politicians and activists attacking trans people are not interested in compromise! They're interested in our eradication from public life and are exploiting sports to that end

Same. I get blocked by 3-4 people a week, I virtually never know who they are or recall interacting with them. I’ve been critical of Dems lately, could be part of it, and I can tell a number don’t like trans folks. Which at least is an improvement over all the insults and hate at the other place.
Ask and you shall receive. I was sent a polling/strategy memo that is being circulated in DC. It offers advice to Dems on Trump sending the National Guard to DC. "Distract" is used 10 times. "Stunt" four. I'll try to post it later, but I assume others have it as well.
Trans people have been erased from government records, are being openly discriminated against in the military and grants, are at risk of losing access to hormone treatments and the accurate passports needed to flee. Third Way types have responded by saying Dems use the word 'cisgender' too much.

I love that the nearly-immortal Adam settles in Detroit to explore his music. I was reminded of this today as I read Jack White’s spot-on description of Trump. That city and its music and musicians have enriched this country immeasurably and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Trump doesn't seem to see that some people are still immune to his threats. Jack White criticized Trump's Oval Office decor. The White House then called White a "washed-up, has-been loser... masquerading as a real artist." And White, undeterred, posted an absolutely blistering takedown in response.

In our pluralistic democracy, a politician doesn't "placate the left by moving left". A politician either actively defends the inherent human rights & dignity of every single last person—or that politician demonstrates that they don't believe in America's mission statement. This isn't difficult.
“Center” in this case includes a willingness to negotiate away some of my rights (setting precedents which will mean the loss of all my rights ultimately). And of course I’m just one of many groups losing rights in this scenario. Also, Clinton/Biden/Harris “moved left?” Seriously?
It's like saying democrats need to focus less on gender issues while Republicans are introducing 800+ bills a year targeting LGBTQ people. It's not the language you're using or the policy you're making! It's that the far right have an effective reality distortion machine in the media.

By saying you can't use the term cisgender, you then ostracize trans people by not having an equivalent term to describe cis people and thus make them "abnormal." It's like saying you can't use the term heterosexual or straight. This is literally a debate we had twenty years ago.
Makes me feel very not good that the BBC openly refers to trans people with slurs. If you weren’t aware, to call a trans person “biologically [their sex assigned at birth]” is a slur - it’s dehumanising and inaccurate!
