As for the rest our foundation has to go back to the aspirational beginnings of the country—a government of the people, by the people, for the people. All the people, regardless of biases and prejudices. Right now it’s a government of the 1%, by the 1%, and for the 1%.

So they’re trying to make blue areas red by weakening some red areas, which could in the end mean a lot of purple districts. So instead of defending, say, 10 red districts and ignoring 4 blue districts, they now have to spend money and time on 12-14 districts.

Look at this graph. The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened. This is why we must build back union power.

There are studies indicating various vaccines offer small protection against dementia in seniors. That makes me think there’s likely a correlation between infectious diseases and the onset of dementia. Maybe we could have had some breakthroughs on that, if we hadn’t cut research budgets.

We’re seeing electricity prices spike in some areas due to AI. But the jury is still our on how useful AI is so do we know if that increase will continue? Meanwhile Trump is trying to destroy solar and wind energy, while working to sell LNG to other countries, which powers electric plants.

We have data on unemployment but because of the on-again off-again federal force reduction policies we can’t get firm numbers there, and many will not enter the ranks of unemployed until September.

We have data on inflation but we don’t really know if it’s reflecting tariffs because we don’t know what will happen with new tariffs and when the current tariffs will hit prices, since big businesses built up inventory ahead of the tariffs.

Much of Trump's econ damage is slower-burning, longer-term—politicizing Fed, discarding rule of law, shaking down firms, degrading data, destroying talent pipeline, alienating trade partners etc These will have costs in the short-term, sure. But biggest costs will be evident in coming years, decades
