It’s not just as good as your knowledge, but it’s more politically powerful. It’s amazing any progress is ever made. Our only hope is to devolve federal programs to the states, with the tax money to support them. Maybe Democrats can fall out of love with federal taxation and spending.

The sad part is that I have at least a couple of family members that are supporters or fellow travelers. They both have anger issues in their lives and Trump is their way of acting out about them. The destruction he visits upon us makes them feel vindicated in their anger.

This would be much easier if we took back our federal tax dollars and funded all of our programs ourselves. We get $83.5B less back in spending than the states residents pay in federal taxes, and that’s even with the federal government spending way more than they get in taxes overall!

I worked with a number of government professionals. Most just grind it out. A few have extraordinary skills at getting the bureaucracy to function. There really is a deep state, which is a good thing. Without the best people, things would seize up fast.
