Whereas the opposite is true with language. Though I guess that is because language offers more options for communicating nuance, allowing for variability, not being restricted to absolutes - like numbers which are limited to a certain type of knowledge. Which isn't quite it, but it's complicated

100% agreed. I am no expert, in anything, but I have spent a lot of time the last few years familiarizing myself with... a few topics, but two specifically would be statistics and etymology. I have found generally the deeper I go with statistics (really all math) the less true it is

and though our technology and media may change there is a reason for the phrase "it isn't a [ blank ] problem, it is a political one" and political just refers to civilization, society, social, etc Which is to say people in general don't really change a whole lot, on the whole, generally speaking

But my main points, if I have any, is to highlight things which are seemingly infinitely reoccurring, because even if those things are described in fantastical mythological terms it is likely those who created the stories were telling a highly embellished story about real world people and events

Which is besides the point because whether it was Emerson, or Carlyle, or some anon Wikipedia editor, or even an AI/LLM (which inputs its outputs from humans outputs) - it is true, and is still true, and it is the main issue causing widespread harms throughout human history.

Rising up to varying degrees of severity throughout history - truly before Emerson, and after. Anyway, like I said, I was unable to find the specific instance where this was explained in detail, and it may not have been, and I am only remembering reading it from some Wikipedia or AI/LLM summary

I recently was reading about the long running correspondence between Ralph Waldo Emerson and Thomas Carlyle - whom, ICYMI, is the person to assign the title "the dismal science" to the field of economics which previously was referred to as "the gay science" - and was reminded here because one of the

I'm not sure that is true. From my POV it appears not only Nature itself in many places, but those few things which remind us of our nature, are indeed sold >I have always suspected that if our economic and political problems are ever really solved, life will become simpler instead of more complex

to be continued, but TLDR: www.reddit.com/r/ModSupport... (follow the links within assuming none of them are disabled/broken by *checks notes* not me - but as the most important of all points that's why I took this screen shot and saved it locally on my own computer, which has ample storage space)

Seriously I include links for a reason, there is much, much more words if for some reason you have not read a sufficient amount of words I have written yet, at the link. Anyway the text of this screen shot says: truths are non-negotiable, and I and many others past present and future understood this as a common, basic, obvious rule for civilization. To explain best, I will reference a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that communicates far more succinctly than I ever could (clearly lmao), which should remove any lingering possibility of confusion, so long as you are not one of us whom unfortunately requires constant personal support and assistance for daily functioning. But if that is you, you wouldn't be reading this: I wish to write such rhymes as shall not suggest a restraint but contrariwise the wildest freedom. History rhymes. When it repeats, that indicates we have not learned, causing an echo, leading to incoherence, amongst other things. Savvy?

Or does reality trump rhetoric? Or is this all semantics? In any case that is above my paygrade, and should be left to the appropriate authorities and only if their decision is disagreed by the majority should the decision be reviewed, #MajorQuestions bsky.app/profile/rele...

When two people who disagree refuse to compromise (ie both refuse not only one) after they both die who had the last word? What if they were famous and the debate well known so each point is repeated? Does the last word change? Is there a difference between the two? Does the last word matter?
