And here I didn't expect @mattfraction.bsky.social's BATMAN to be funny. Silly me. (Art by the great @jorgejimenezart.bsky.social, Tomeu Morey, & Clayton Cowles)

It’s a great song, but “For or against?” Is a terrific joke.

Well, I mean, that issue of FML *is* really good… …oh, does Matt have something coming out today, too? Hadn't heard. ;)

@kellysue.bsky.social I laughed so hard that a co-worker stuck his head in my office to make sure I was okay.

EENIE MEENIE on Hulu is *not* what it says on the package. If it had been more stylishly shot, I’d call it a noir. Under no circumstances would I call it an action-comedy.

And I’m a small fish in the social media ocean. I have never gone viral, and probably never will. (I’m 100% happy about that.) Anyway, to all of you who follow me: I have no idea why you do, but I hope you’re getting enough out of the experience.
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social)
Social media is such a weird thing. I somehow have almost 3 times as many followers as people I follow, and only about 20 of those are people I know outside of this place. The majority of those 20 are people I met via social media and became friends with outside of it. (Cont.)

I’d make a joke about why Magneto doesn’t just kill the Joker, except Magneto would have killed the Joker a looooong time ago.
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. He doesn’t always phrase things clearly, muddying the meaning. One way or the other, though, it’s a bad look.
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
"Why doesn't Magneto simply give people jobs?"
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
There were no assurances made, though there was talk of needing to work out the rights/compensation issues.

Yeah, that was a disturbing, disappointing thing to read.

And they did. He was friendly and respectful and professional. He knew everyone in the room was in awe of him, but he did his best to cut through all of that and relate to us as equals. He was the only star that said goodbye to the crew, and he said it to every single one of us.
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
…He introduced himself, shook the crew’s hands, and then asked us where we needed him and what he needed to do. After we answered, he turned to the others and told them what we told him…and then told them they need to listen to me and Eric the photographer. (Cont.)
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
…or the photographer. He walked in and they all focused their attention on him. He said his hellos to them—he had to get through them to get in and talk to anyone else. But get through them he did, and then he walked over to the photographer & myself. (Cont.)
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
I met him once. I was directing a photoshoot featuring him and a few other celebrities. He arrived a little bit late—nothing egregious, like 10 minutes. Before he arrived, the celebrities weren’t interested in anyone other than their group, didn’t ask questions or listen to me (cont.)

Yeah, I'd like to see him make a movie—any movie—without those VFX workers. All of his movies have been VFX heavy. the recent ones may as well have been cartoons for all the practical things done in them.
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
Congratulations to him!
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
No one in Hollywood seems to want to pay anyone else, especially these days. The VFX guys make those salaries because their skills are rare, their hours are terrible, and work is sporadic. Cameron saying they make too much is even more egregious when you think about how much he makes.

Okay, I'll admit I'm biased, but I genuinely think the book gets better with each issue. I mean, maybe not the back covers, but everything else. Seriously, though, Greg & Michael & everyone else are firing on all cylinders, and you should be reading our book.

I know Spider-Man inside out and would love to write a Spidey story at some point. I acknowledge that I, much like Peter Parker, would probably gripe and worry about it the whole time I was writing it, though.
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
If you asked any of his friends (superheroic or not) they’d say he’s a good person, one of the best they know. Heck. Some of his enemies may say that. If you asked Peter, the best you’d get is, “I’m trying.”
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
One of the things I love about Peter Parker is that, deep down, HE doesn’t believe he’s a good person, and the guilt he feels for that (and for failing to save people) drives him to become an even better person.
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
I feel like the “planned fill-in” that books like STARMAN and TIME BEFORE TIME did is the ideal solution—but your regular artist time while doing a single issue or two intended to be drawn by someone else.
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
Though someone who misses many, many deadlines and doesn’t realize he or she isn’t cut out for that amount of work in that amount of time isn’t doing anyone any favors.
Richard Howe (@richardhowe.bsky.social) reply parent
I’d guess every artist in comics or illustration has missed a deadline or two. Things come up. People get sick. You don’t get the script on time. Not the end of the world, and not what you should judge artists by.

Watching FIELD OF DREAMS, which was probably my favorite movie in 1989. It hits differently now, both because of my age and the way the world has changed, but it’s still charming and weirdly meditative.
