Yeah, I'd like to see him make a movie—any movie—without those VFX workers. All of his movies have been VFX heavy. the recent ones may as well have been cartoons for all the practical things done in them.

No one in Hollywood seems to want to pay anyone else, especially these days. The VFX guys make those salaries because their skills are rare, their hours are terrible, and work is sporadic. Cameron saying they make too much is even more egregious when you think about how much he makes.

I know Spider-Man inside out and would love to write a Spidey story at some point. I acknowledge that I, much like Peter Parker, would probably gripe and worry about it the whole time I was writing it, though.
If you asked any of his friends (superheroic or not) they’d say he’s a good person, one of the best they know. Heck. Some of his enemies may say that. If you asked Peter, the best you’d get is, “I’m trying.”
One of the things I love about Peter Parker is that, deep down, HE doesn’t believe he’s a good person, and the guilt he feels for that (and for failing to save people) drives him to become an even better person.
I feel like the “planned fill-in” that books like STARMAN and TIME BEFORE TIME did is the ideal solution—but your regular artist time while doing a single issue or two intended to be drawn by someone else.
Though someone who misses many, many deadlines and doesn’t realize he or she isn’t cut out for that amount of work in that amount of time isn’t doing anyone any favors.
I’d guess every artist in comics or illustration has missed a deadline or two. Things come up. People get sick. You don’t get the script on time. Not the end of the world, and not what you should judge artists by.

Watching FIELD OF DREAMS, which was probably my favorite movie in 1989. It hits differently now, both because of my age and the way the world has changed, but it’s still charming and weirdly meditative.
