Anyone who thinks trans people shouldn't have a right to live their lives has set a bar for human rights, and bars can be moved. Your UK example is spot-on. Starmer has raised the bar to exclude immigrants. Newsom's already doing it with homeless. I'm cishet and I will never vote for Newsom.

Democrats have tried, and failed, to win based on guessing what 51% of people think they want. The Palestinian Genocide is a perfect example of this. Newsom is just another rudderless Democrat. Democrats need to do what it takes to do what's *right*, not what Pew Research indicates this week.
Even if Newsom wasn't a terrible person he'd be a bad candidate. The GOP has had a laser focus for decades, and they have done everything they could to win and retain power - regardless of how generally unpopular their platform might be.

I guess it's technically identify theft, but they're probably just using publicly available addresses. If anyone is getting scammed it's the online retailer. It's their own fault, though, for not vetting their 3rd party sellers properly.
It's a bit confusing. From what I gather, international shippers are using domestic return addresses for various reasons. The most common seems to be avoiding the shipping cost of having items returned to them. It's cheaper to eat the loss of the product than pay the shipping.

Empathy and just common decency should dictate that when someone is clearly trying to be discreet in a place that doesn't offer privacy they should be given as much privacy as is practical. I.e. "don't stare".
And I think it will only get worse as devices proliferate, more people realize they could be being recorded covertly without consent, and the companies pushing these devices try to normalize it. It's easy to say there's no expectation of privacy in public, but that doesn't have to be true.
