I have learned to be more aware of people's feelings, which is why I generally dont give feedback anymore. One of the #neurodivergent hallmarks is our social awkwardness - Bluntness being a common trait. But why do some get to make the rules of social acceptance and others don't? Guess what...
I think part of the issue is defining "unkind". If someone asks my opinion, and my opinion is that there are problems, and I state that opinion...is that "unkind"? The theme of this post is that for ND people, saying "It's nice, I like it" is actually unkind. Because we want real useful feedback.

On the inverse, when people ask for MY feedback, I've learned to say "You dont really want my opinion". The brave souls who insist ALWAYS regret that decision. When I am done, there are stunned faces, a moment of silence...then someone sarcastically says "geez, tell us what you REALLY think!"
Most NT folks are looking for validation. Their work can be total garbage but as long you make them feel special, that's all that matters. ND folks have never fit in and we've given up on acceptance, so we focus on ingergrity instead.
Maybe it's just me but maybe an ND thing too... when I ask for feedback IDGF about anyone's "opinion", I'm not looking for validation, I just want my work to be high quality. I take feedback and weigh it out against what I already know, then adjust accordingly (or not) aiming for quality.

Believe it or not, there's something there. You may have lost the thread along the way but you had a plan. Do your best to salvage your progress and set it aside. It will come back to you (probably at bedtime or in the shower). We never get complete solutions in one shot. Be kind to yourself.
I respect the sentiment but I do want people to realize that as kids in the 1970s we were told this was the "polite" term to use. The first time I heard someone get offended (circa 2008) I was confused. I recognized & changed my behavior but before throat punching, maybe explain it to them.

Learning to cohabitate when you have adhd is a big struggle. Especially if you went undiagnosed for most your life. I developed all these coping devices and didn't realize. Then suddenly a new person is living in your space, interrupting your routine and it causes tension.
I think it's a combination of things. Also, the type of surface affects how well it sticks.

Why I struggle my whole life with being on time and "productive" at work: most nights I wake up around 1am, no matter what time I go to bed or how tired I am. I'm wide awake for the next 3-4 hours. I finally fall asleep right before my alarm goes off. #adhd #neurodivergent
What's sad is thinking about times people expressed concern about various behaviors of mine and my reaction was to declare that it's all perfectly fine because I'd been doing it for years and things had worked out OK so far. I'm sure there's a clinical term for this type of nationalization.
It's funny, before I learned about adhd, I used to think the other folks were the weirdos. I'd be like: "You have trouble sleeping if you drink coffee in the afternoon?? What a loser! I drink coffee non-stop all day and I'm still tired."
Just did this: woke up super early, whole family still asleep. Walked half a mile to coffee shop just as they opened. Got a 24 oz coffee, drank it on the walk back. Climbed back in bed and slept for 2 hours. #adhd

...As noted earlier, I have not ingested enough caffeine. Hit the coffee shop in the station and get a large coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Sit down in the terminal to eat my sandwich but they dont believe in flat surfaces in train stations so I have to put my coffee on the floor by my feet...9/16

...to the front door where I see (!!!!) the door slightly ajar and one my cats peeking their head outside! (Indoor only cats) One of the items I dropped on the porch prevented the door from closing all the way. I chase the cat back in but now we have to look around and make sure...7/16
...so I dont lose track of it. (I only use the T pass maybe once a month at most) BUT we recently "straightened up" - cuz the NT world tells us ND people we need to keep our stuff "tidy" - so now I can't find the pass. A brief panicked search reveals it's location. Whew! Back down stairs...6/16
...I just drop it all right there by the front door so I will literally trip over it on my way back out. Run inside, past the wife, ha ha forgot something, upstairs to the bedroom. I normally keep the transit pass sitting on top of the dresser where it stares me in the face...5/16
...I have to carry extra stuff. So my arms are overflowing with keys, coffee, etc. I get out the door, standing on my porch and the thought from the night before returns: Transit Pass! But I have all this other stuff gathered in my arms. To make sure I dont forget any of it...4/16
...because it is soooo early I haven't had my usual 4 cups of coffee I need to jump start the brain, so add in extra brain fog. My wife and I joke about me forgetting something, ha ha. Becaue of my #adhd I have to carry everything in one trip - or I forget things - but the travel means...3/16
