I mean, letโs be fair, most rich people build empty soulless cavernous mansions with Doric columns made of foam as shrines to their egos. At least these people built a big ass playhouse.

Absolutely bonkers. People have been trained to think thereโs no longer such a thing as craft, because any idiot can swing a hammer. And then once you learn that isnโt true, itโs already too late, and the guy you shouldโve hired in the first place is no longer taking your calls.

I think history has shown that doing โfascism liteโ does not help the Dems. This idea of throwing a bone to far-right sensibilities only alienates the progressive base and doesnโt win over fence-sitters, let alone conservatives, who already have a full-on anti-trans candidate in their corner.

Every month I get emails from the major imprints on upcoming SSF releases, and it is now common to see 3-4 months go by at a stretch with barely a single new science fiction title. Stalwart SF imprints like Ace and Del Rey have almost entirely given themselves over to โcozyโ fantasy and romantasy.
Thomas ๐ SFF180 (@sff180.bsky.social) reply parent
I think itโs more a matter of how such stories are published these days. Climate fiction is being marketed as mainstream fiction, not SF, which is an interesting factoid.
