I think history has shown that doing “fascism lite” does not help the Dems. This idea of throwing a bone to far-right sensibilities only alienates the progressive base and doesn’t win over fence-sitters, let alone conservatives, who already have a full-on anti-trans candidate in their corner.
They never made a bad movie. And their name really suited them. Their films really did feel “handmade,“ put together with limited resources but infinite love and passion by the artists behind and before the cameras.

Every month I get emails from the major imprints on upcoming SSF releases, and it is now common to see 3-4 months go by at a stretch with barely a single new science fiction title. Stalwart SF imprints like Ace and Del Rey have almost entirely given themselves over to “cozy“ fantasy and romantasy.
I think it’s more a matter of how such stories are published these days. Climate fiction is being marketed as mainstream fiction, not SF, which is an interesting factoid.

As a gun owner myself I am not opposed to gun ownership in principle. But I am just consistently in a state of stunned disbelief that there is next to nothing my country is willing to do to prohibit or even restrict gun purchases by basically any mad bastard who wanders in off the street.
When I was his age, it would’ve been inconceivable that something like this would become a regular occurrence at schools. We went to class, lunch, recess, cut up with our friends. It was childhood.

There are places in literally any and every city on earth where people won’t walk after dark. I live in a tiny town in a red state with about 2000 people total. And there are neighborhoods here where walking after dark isn’t a great choice.

Saying this again: there is a scammer out there targeting newbie authors, claiming I'm one of their clients. They use different names, and I'm already pursuing legal action. But I have never worked with a PR company, editing service, or book packager, so anybody saying so is lying, period full stop.

That turned out to be a major factor in the loss of the format. MMPBs eventually hit a hard price point, that being $10, beyond which most consumers didn’t want to pay for them. If compact size and convenience were a major appeal, an e-book on your phone provides that for roughly the same price.
