Speaking as someone who works with four year olds within a school system, it is quite ok if they don’t know the alphabet yet or recognize numbers. Kids develop at different rates. If they are having trouble with reading in third grade, they likely need tutoring or other intervention.
I don't think "bet it all on the midterms" is a better strategy now than "bet it all on 24" was in 21, but if we're doing it anyway, I'd like to see the authors of that strategy at least working right now on the question of "how do we protect and encourage minority voting if ICE is at the polls?"
