Yeah the OL stuff made me mad and I was a little higher than consensus on Wallace. I thought he was more of a day 3 pick and an early one at that. My scale had him as flashing starter traits - could be a good backup at 4/5 spots on the line and push for a starting role by end of rookie contract.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
Like why would you want this guy around at all? He isn’t good at anything. I think he’s out the door soon.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
I feel like he’s kind of a snake… And that’s kind of reading between the lines from Tom Curran and Andrew Callahan. So I just don’t think Vrabel would want him around.

Like I agree that he could be a Matt Light career at OT. I don’t think he gets there but I could be wrong. I could easily be wrong. I know though that outcomes are variable and it’s, ranges, outcome bars, etc.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
Hmm, I’m less bullish on him as an OT but I think he has exceptional “ceiling” if he kicks inside. I can buy that what you say is true. We both know this is all degrees and chances. Like, we both know that there is an X% chance he gets a horrible injury. Or multiple. There is a chance he is not ^^

Yes, typically guys get knocked back before they can anchor. I get that. Physics is a you know what sometimes. I think that he gets knocked back more than the average tackle before he anchors. Needs to anchor faster/better. I hope you’re right. I wouldn’t be that confident on anything.

The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
He still gets knocked into the pocket and has this pre-season. I am lower than consensus on him as an OT and while I am happy to say his run blocking has looked + I can't say the same for what I have seen/read/heard on the pass pro. As in, I am still concerned he will be a disaster/near-disaster.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
I don't know if he looks like a starter at OG yet or not. Way too early for that. I still think his long-term value is at center. It looks like he is going to start and grow at OG this year. He might play well! He might not in year 1. Let's check in ~week 8-9? I was a Wilson peep btw.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
Saw that meaning he got bull-rushed and long-armed a lot after Verse handled him. IIRC he says it in here... but there is so much content I might have picked the wrong video :(. trenchwarfare.substack.com/p/the-trench...
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
I thought Verse kicked his ass... I would argue the opposite. And Campbell admitted it on a pod with Brandon Thorn. He said that because Verse kicked his ass so badly with his speed to power he saw that the rest of the year until he proved the next year he got a stronger anchor.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
And, again, you passed on potentially the same caliber of prospect at premium positions. They didn't see it that way, of course. They were higher than consensus on him via their grade on him. Not surprising. Prospect variances increases a lot once you get out of the top 15-20-25 or so.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes, and it isn't that Henderson won't be a potentially good player. I know that the hype train has justifiably taken off for him. Here are my concerns: 1) RB is not a full-time position, 2) RB is dependent, in part, on offensive line, 3) he had durability issues, and 4) might struggle w/ zone
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
Don’t get me wrong - that’s still really freaking awesome.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m not sure I’d say all 4 look like hits. Kyle Williams? 3 look like they might pan out well. Woodson might be more of a lock to contribute than Wilson… so maybe 4 but Williams is the only guy you have more ?s about getting playing time before mid-season.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
If I have a loaded roster, or if I’m more or less set at the premium or semi-premium positions like OG then I would entertain taking an RB high.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
I would have gone after a different position with who was available on the board. Last note: Henderson was 40th on Arif’s consensus big board. He wasn’t a steal. He was fine in terms of where they picked him.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
For me, it would be difficult philosophically to draft a running back when I didn’t have a quality offensive line already in place. Also, if a 7+ on my scale (which translates to top 25 at a position you have one or more of) player is available at OT, WR, Edge, IDL, CB, and OG to a lesser degree…
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
For sure. If we get more than 2 quality starters it is an exceptional draft regardless of where you picked in the order. I have a methodology I didn’t get into and used top 50 as a shitty proxy. I buy into The Drafting Stage’s tiers and link that to my scale. More below.

There are mitigating factors. The defense should be better and help keep the game script favorable. They should run block well. The scheme and play calling will be excellent. The coaching should be good. They have an easy, bottom 3 schedule

Here is why I think the Pats could be a bottom 3 unit in pass pro: LT - Will Campbell is going to struggle probably bottom 5 LG - on the roster? Whoever going to struggle. C - Bradbury is bottom 5/10 in pass pro. RG - Onwenu declining? Coming off a down year. Moses - old and coming off down year.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
It was never realistic that they fixed 4/5 spots on the OL in one off-season. However, the guys they brought in, aside from perhaps Moses, are not big upgrades in pass pro. Let me lob you a softball of sorts: 2025 season only: beginning —> end how concerned are you about drop back pass pro?

The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social)
Last year vs Eagles 11 sacks on 44 11v11s, 25% sack rate. This year is 13 sacks on 49 11v11s, 26.5% sack rate. Huh.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social)
What does "fine" mean to you? I use this word too much myself. I think it means minimally adequate. Stop saying any rookie will be "fine". Most rookies eventually bust. WRT Will Campbell, there is 0 guarantee he will be "fine" at LT in his rookie year... or, you know, ever.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social)

I know it is obnoxious to requote myself but... this is your Will Campbell refresher course.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
And, yes, I know, I know that he could improve. He probably will. But sometimes guys just aren't that good at a thing. You can't magically coach up everything. It's going to take more than a preseason for him to figure out how to pass protect consistently.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social)
Reading about how well Armand Membou is doing in pass pro this preseason while seeing Will Campbell (unsurprisingly) struggle is just frustrating. Everything that we were concerned with about Campbell is playing out so far :(. Some good stuff too of course! But LT = pass blocking more important.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
I think the soft schedule and scheme can keep him in the bottom 20th to 40th percentile but not the lowest. I guess he starts and stays there.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s a project in pass pro but by year 4-5 you want to get to the higher 90s. Year 1 is usually damn hard for tackles. Where do you think he is right now/ where do you think he will be at the end of the season for pass rush blocking efficiency? Just a ballpark. Let’s use quintiles 📏 top 20th%, etc
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s so hard to properly evaluate line play in preseason. Ultimately, it’s going to be about rates, and how efficient he can be as a pass protector. It doesn’t matter if you look awesome 90% of the time if 10% of the time you let up pressure. You want to be in the 97%+ area. Worried about his rate.

Like Friedman, Tolkien rejects the idea of a benevolent dictator or an altruistic, all-powerful overseer controlling society. The safest outcome, it seems, would be to limit how much power individuals can accumulate—an approach that resembles a blend of anarchism and socialist libertarianism.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
The scene from *LOTR* resonates here: "Don't tempt me, Frodo! I dare not take it. Not even to keep it safe. Understand, Frodo, I would use this Ring from a desire to do good. But through me, it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine."

In America, the wealthy wield significant influence; corporate interests are protected by both political parties. Oligarchs have a hand in shaping legislation—do they act in their own best interest, or ours?
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
Wealthy individuals have historically held consolidated power until they're overthrown. Then, those who overthrow them often consolidate power themselves, perpetuating the cycle. The heroes -> the villains. Figures like Robert Mugabe, Aung San Suu Kyi, Omar Kadefi, and others exemplify this pattern.
The Pick Is In (NFL Draft) (@thepickisin.bsky.social) reply parent
Similarly, Friedman argued against a centrally planned economy and questioned, "Who are these angels?"—those who would altruistically decide and organize outcomes—because he believed those in power tend to become corrupt.

Milton Friedman and *The Lord of the Rings* share a unique overlap. I used to think *The Lord of the Rings* was overly simplistic, with its classic motif of good versus evil—a cliché, perhaps. However, a key theme in *LOTR* is that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Dylan Stewart gets Proctor a couple of times in this game as a pass rusher (6 on SCar) but here his pelvis is crushed as a run defender. Proctor finishes his run blocks when he can square up, land his punch, and control the rep. He is especially excellent in a phone booth as a run blocker.

Proctor island here. When and if he latches he will ragdoll edges and defensive linemen. There are hand placement issues as well. I saw inconsistent punch timing. A lot of late reps vs Tennessee for example but not nearly as much vs S-Car.
