They have been arrested.

I bought my two daughters theirs last Thursday, and they don’t go back to school until the middle of this week. Father of the Year 🤣

Badenoch is laughably awful at everything.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
I hope to hell you’re wrong.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh, I haven’t seen those! I watch his YouTube videos, which are just the papers.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
@bbcstever.bsky.social’s Russian press reviews are superb - and have made particularly good viewing this last week or so. Ukraine’s refinery strikes are having quite a profound effect.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
No, but saying nothing about it wouldn’t give Alex and her dreadful acolytes something else to get their knickers in a twist about. It must be tiring being upset about so many things.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
I know. I think if the journalist in question (I can’t remember who - was it on Newsnight?) had known how profound its effect would be, Gove would have been challenged on that line. It was the beginning of the end for trust and integrity.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
There shouldn’t be a comma after ‘values’ either.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
Absolute filth. I was in Halifax last weekend to visit the Piece Hall and we saw lots of nice people there. These idiots besmirch their neighbourhoods.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
They are just racists. Unfortunately, Brexit and the social problems caused by the country’s deep economic problems have given them a scapegoat to pin their woes on. Same as 1930s Germany (not the Brexit bit, obviously).
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
If I’m not going to encounter racist morons like Cait now, I might just sign up for English Heritage membership.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh, poor him. The snivelling little shit is one of the main reasons we are where we are politically.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
I spent a year studying the rise of the Nazis as part of my degree 30 years ago, and this bunch of c**ts gives me bad vibes. I have a feeling we are in for a bad time unless something radical happens to stop them.

Blimey! Just saw his post. Unless he went to a grammar school in North Birmingham run by sadists, then probably not.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
A lot of the older teachers at my school were quite clearly sadists.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
Gen Xer here. At my school, a classmate who played up was made to stand in the bin, facing the wall, with his hands on his head for the remainder of the lesson.

Anyone who advocates leaving the EHCR needs robust challenge about what that means for the GFA and the dangers for our citizens on the loss of the protections it affords them. Why is the media so silent?

TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
They are never going to get the UK press onside, but whoever is in charge of Comms wants sacking straight away. I can’t for the life of me understand why they aren’t attacking Farage more and calling out the Brexit he enabled either. McSweeney has to go.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
The bit about the media not getting across the good things they’ve done has some merit, however the fact is that their overall voter strategy is shit. Labour could learn a thing or two from the Lib Dems.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
Unless he’s going to sideline McSweeney and stop chasing Reform votes, nothing will change. Progressive, not regressive politics is the way forward.

The local Facebook group is vilifying people for taking the flags down (with vague threats of retribution due to Ring doorbell or CCTV footage), but I am certain this is not funded by local people. None on my road yet, and it will be staying that way.

TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
This is literally the village (just beyond Brum) where I live. Make no mistake, this is orchestrated behaviour by people who don’t live there - it is the epitome of Middle England. I saw some of these flags in Birmingham a few weeks back and thought it odd. This is a guerilla campaign.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent

TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
I live there. This isn’t locals doing this, I can assure you. It’s typical Middle England - probably 98% white British and very middle class. Most people will be appalled by this nonsense.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s where I live - typical Middle England. I very much doubt it’s local people funding this, most people will be appalled by this faux patriotism.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social)
www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025... This is where I live. It’s about as Middle England as it gets - and is probably 98% white British. The person who set up the GoFundMe page wrote a load of barely sentient nonsense about his motives - and I’d be pretty certain it isn’t locals funding it.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
Slava Ukraini = fine Free Palestine = bad Someone make sense of that for me. (To be clear, I think both are absolutely valid).
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
Ok, fair enough. Let’s be clear, then, the English media is massively anti-immigration - the truth is that only a small number of inward-looking towns are really behind that sentiment. It saddens me that they dominate what our press puts out. They are poisoning what we stand for.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
The narrative set by the UK media is completely anti-immigration. I live a few miles from Birmingham and lived in it for 30 years - it’s not perfect, but it’s a great example of how different ethnicities can get along. If you were to believe the press, you’d think we were at war with each other.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
Who is that?
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
I know that part of the Black Country well - and the only reason people are talking about immigration is because Labour has failed to repudiate what Reform stands for, and has instead pandered to them. Stand up for traditional Labour values, or stand down.

Thanks so much. We will visit the Acropolis and Parthenon, which I’m very excited about, and then see what else takes our fancy.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes. Definitely worth visiting, though. Other commentators, who said it had been overly commercialised, probably had it about right. I reckon it would have been idyllic 20 years ago.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
Hi Alex, we are leaving Santorini for Athens tomorrow. It is very beautiful, but it is *so* crowded with cruise ship visitors - and really expensive! I get the feeling that its beauty has been exploited by commercial interests - much more so than, say, Lanzarote (as another volcanic island).
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s very pretty, but I’m not sure I’d hurry back. Very busy and in many ways much more commercialised than Lanzarote, which I happen to really like. We are excited to be heading to Athens tomorrow for four nights.
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s very picturesque, but it’s overrun by cruise ship crowds (we’re in Fira) - and it’s very expensive. There’s also lots of young people, here for an Instagram shot of the beautiful sunset - feels a bit shallow. We have a lovely small aparthotel though, and have had the pool mostly to ourselves!
TravisTAGR (@travistagr.bsky.social) reply parent
Excellent idea. We’re on our last evening in Santorini. Cases are packed and I’m enjoying a quiet solo beer outside while my daughters chill indoors. Hope you’re having a fab time.
