When the Dems are back in charge, every GOP politician who has ever taken out a mortgage can expect an investigation. And I'd bet the rate of "irregularities" of some sort, from any random sampling of mortgage applications, is probably around 20-30%. Might have to go on a prosecutor hiring spree.

Excellent point re: the cost of crime reduction being our freedom. Another great example is traffic fatalities. We accept a traffic fatality rate more than 2x the homicide rate. We could bring it to ~0 with a national 25mph speed limit. We don't. We accept that loss of life as the cost of freedom.

And poorly done, apparently! The point being how insane it sounds when this lingo is used densely, to support the subtler point that even in isolation many of these terms are off-putting outside of Bluesky-like bubbles. Which is where most of our potential voters are, and we need to speak to them.

That's a different argument, and one I agree with- "Dem politicians are not saying most of these these words anyway". The OP went too far saying that it is "totalitarian" to merely *suggest* that Dems are careful about language, and people who don't know these terms are "apes". Big tent, please!

Sorry, but a 70 year old Democratic midwestern voter who doesn't know what "cisgender" means is not an "ape". It's the words that sound weird to a large slice of America. Not the concepts, the words, the jargon of academia. My late dad was diehard liberal, but hated language like this. It's a turnoff to those not immersed in the lingo. Unnecessarily alienating. Speak plainly, he'd say. I say good advice.

This. Simple language gets the messages across. It sounds pretentious and out of touch to some voters when they hear terms like "food insecurity" to describe what they've known as "hunger" or "poverty". Speak to your audience. Academic-coined jargon isn't "bad", just not right for all occasions.

When the "joke" is pretty much just a straight imitation, it shows how stupid the source material is.

Thesw folks lie brazenly to paint the picture of a genius when anyone with any sense can see that Trump is objectively a moron. Unfortunately a lot of people with no sense believe the lies. They have a fantastical vision of Trump utterly disconnected from the actual person.

But the Trump tax cuts is not buying votes? Thing is, any policy that helps some constituency could be interpreted as buying votes in this manner. Which is pretty much every policy supported by any politician, ever. The stupid, it hurts.

Their ranking will no longer exist, because the department of education will not be collecting the data that feeds into state rankings. Stop measuring things, and nobody knows how bad they are.

He says manual tabulation leaves "no doubt, at the end of the evening, as to who won". Nope. Takes days to count, and eliminating mail-in ballots will extend the time for early counting states. Rural areas count faster, so this hints at a ploy to claim victory based on early GOP-leaning results.

I thought Trump's police takeover was supposed to make people feel safer? Clearly not what actual real people think. Because it was obviously bullshit the entire time, and putting military personnel on the street untrained in basic law enforcement is obviously a dangerous idea.

I'd like to know *who* in the Trump admin put European leaders on high alert to prompt this show of unity. Been pretty tight lipped publicly about what went down.

Unless she had a Ukrainian-provided lead-lined prosthetic hand to poison Putin with polonium-210, she is an evil piece of shit.

Math and geography are individually much too difficult for MAGA minds to comprehend, so join the two together in a map and it's no surprise that MAGAs get very confused. 🤯

It's like once they cross that line and decide to pretend that a man who is objectively an intellectual midget and a depraved playboy is actually a genius chosen by God himself to lead, something utterly breaks in their minds. I'm sure there is a concept in psychiatry that explains it.
