They all paved the way for our greatest generation, where each manufacturer, newcomer and established foe alike were firing on all cylinders.
I couldn’t pick just one and they all hit different. Like the SNES and MD, there’s a symbiotic thing going on with Saturn and the N64, with the latter coming off as the lesser machine for variety, but those glorious highs. I’m less passionate about the original PS, but you can’t dismiss it either.
Fifth Gen. First came the N64, then a Saturn and finally a PSOne. And from that point, I was totally multiplatform.

Yeah, it was seeing the trailed for the sequel during a Nintendo Direct that put me onto the first game.
Games Complete #15 The Darkness Man, I dunno. Given the rep this game has, I was expecting more. Neat ideas and all that, but movement is sluggish and the ‘immersive’ elements make the screen difficult to read at the best of times. Definitely has the trace roots of Butcher Bay, but not as good.

It very much does have that One More Go factor, especially when the permanent allowance upgrades and new blueprints start piling up. Also, on my first completion run, I discovered The Gallery for the first time, which kinda makes me feel like the end game is meted out, rather than randomised.
Games Complete #14 Sort of. I mean, can anyone complete The Blue Prince? Feels like there’s layers upon layers, but I got to Room 46, so I’m putting a pin in it for now. Pretty incredible really, but way too dependent on luck for my liking.
While it’s not really my style to wish ill of people, no matter how thick, evil, smug, ridiculously insecure or micro-penised, I see no downside to his inevitable demise.
Things don’t really start moving until at least 25 days in, that’s all I can say.
Slowly coming to the conclusion that The Blue Prince is the biggest prick teaser in all of gaming.
Where they will go next is absolutely the thing I am looking forward to most.

My theory is it’s one of the fuller PSVR experiences, but I don’t care for it much either.
I definitely respect it for what it did at the time, but for me as a lifelong Bat-fan, City is the sweet spot.
I’d say the repetition in Knight is bad, and the Batmobile is complicit. But man, it’s The Batmobile. That alone elevates it.
City Knight Origins Asylum And, y’know, that’s not bad. Hipsters rate Asylum too highly. It’s prelim, a proof of concept in the face of City, Knight and Origins. It’s like ‘Be The Bat, but in a wildly decorated Village Hall.’

Yeah, thing about 720P proper is that very few (if any) made 1280x720 native panels, with most opting for 1366x768, which us really WXGA, but can obviously contain 720P with some scaling to full screen plus any overscan.
1366x768? That’s the proper HD Ready pixel res. My Bravia was allegedly one of the first proper widescreen LCD panels, with earlier displays making do with an XGA (1024x768) pixel resolution.
Ahh, I’d bought into HDTV a couple of months before the 360 launched with my first Bravia. It made all the difference, but only had one HDMI port, which caused problems further down the line.
I was already on board, but the mainstream hype was all about the arrival of Gears of War. My flatmate flipped from wanting a PS3 to a 360 once he’d played my copy.

The most realistic perhaps, but a lot of the arcade fun had been left behind. I like GTAV, but I don’t think it’s typical of Western games and it is ancient. I also don’t agree that Western development is inherently flawed. Look to the likes of iD, IOI, Arkane, Obsidian, Nightdive etc for proof.
Wait, you don’t like GTAV or it runs like shit, which is it? Because one is an opinion and I’m pretty certain that GTAV is stable on anything current nowadays. There might very well be a Switch 2 port in the offing!
Pretty sure that graphics matter more than frame-rate to the marketing men, but I’m in agreement that dealing with imperfections at a hardware level is the way to go.
PC gaming has leaned into AI based upscaling for almost a decade now and is all the better for it. It increases the longevity pf PC hardware and lowers the barriers of entry to PC gaming overall. Given that consoles are broadly low/mid-spec PC’s now, why shouldn’t they benefit also?
