The ads on my local news apps are just the worst, a lot of the quasi medical slop like āstop eating this one vegetable for your gut healthā and worse, never any actual ads for actual recognizable products. It is such a bad look (and has been for a while) for news outlets and itās everywhere

I donāt think the arguments over 1st amendment and SM content moderation are that similar to AI output (not input) moderation, except for both being tech. Whose speech is being infringed if the company is found liable for their AIās output? The AI is not a person so how does it have protection?

My high school (I graduated in 95) had an atrium that was still called āthe smoking courtā, where the students used to be able to go smoke. For some reason they just locked it up and we couldnāt enjoy the space at all, which felt like a real double whammy at the time
Also can I point out how sweet my Phoebe girl is? Look at her laying on the floor so she makes herself smaller than Otis. How gently she plays with him. She really turned her guardian instincts on to Otis his last year. She took very good care of him! My dogs are the best.
This is just a month ago. You can see how fragile and arthritic my boy Otis was. But he was still obviously enjoying life. He went down hill from here. Could barely stand up out of his bed in the morning. So thankful I got to have this good boy in my life for 14+ years. Our home is so quiet now.
Otis loved life, he demanded what he wanted and he loved me fiercely. He drove me crazy at times, but I swear his temperament is what kept him alive for the last year at least. He obviously wanted to suck every last drop of joy out of life, and Iām pretty sure he accomplished his mission.
He had hip dysplasia and arthritis. He tore his doggie ACL in one back leg several years ago, they couldnāt operate to fix it because even then his hips were so bad. His back legs were useless. A lesser dog, a more chill dog, would have given up a year ago.
It has been a hard year, watching our lil spark plug slowly lose all the lil things that made him him. He was a bossy lil asshole in the most adorable way. He barked too much and played too rough. He hasnāt been like that this year.
In his prime, Otis was a spit fire, sometimes exhausting, ball of energy and love. We have two other dogs, a bonded pair of Great Pyrenees girlies, that we adopted 6 years ago. They kept him young, but he also kept them on their toes.
I havenāt been on Bluesky much recently-summer has been very busy. Have my son home from college, which is wonderful. But my bestest boy Otis has been basically on doggie hospice for months now. We had to say goodbye yesterday. Had him since he was a pup, for 14 wonderful years, my heart hurts.

He is alive, and he is not currently imprisoned in a torture prison for the rest of his life. This is an immediate improvement compared to the alternatives. The possibility to get him to safety now exists.
