Significantly understaffed, the CAF has to navigate manning numerous missions abroad, operations in Canada, personnel on career courses and annual postings. Faulting them for not meeting another institutions quota is wrong and lacks understanding of how soldiers are employed and managed writ large.
I find it odd that people on SM think they know what type of equipment the CAF should buy or how they should manage individuals for tasks and their careers. So easy to criticize from the outside yet theyāve never served a day or more importantly donāt understand force employment concepts.
To meet those quotas we would have to remove individuals in some cases from command positions to put them in a staff job, which would not only upset the individual it would damage their career.
The fact is, managing a military is quite different from the civilian world, force generation for task forces or missions must take into account individuals careers along with qualifications. Simply filling positions to appease an outside organization or those opining in the media is ridiculous.
The CAF does not & should not career manage women based on their gender, this has huge negative impacts. They would have pulled multiple women out of unit command roles to be staff officers if the UN had their way. Foolish quota based policy.

There are undeniably way too many deaths in this conflict, however the 60k number is questionable but a few 100k is a massive stretch, given these numbers come from Hamas. Hamas doesnāt have an accurate population count of Gaza.
The F35 is extremely reliable. People seem forget we are a small military and having to train people on 2 platforms will burden the AF and reduced operational readiness. Everyone wanting a Euro fighter will drastically delay an already slow delivery schedule.
