While it's a bad idea to let Republicans change the subject away from the Epstein files, I do think there's one exception that the American people ought to allow Republicans to immerse themselves in, legitimately back-burnering Epstein: The 25th Amendment.

"if we think Ambassador Bolton committed a crime"? Isn't that ("we think he committed a crime") what you promised a judge in order to get the search warrant?
John Millington (@zapitron.bsky.social) reply parent
I disagree with JD. I think the 1st Amendment protects Republicans' rights to yell at people on the streets. Sure, we could imprison all Republican and thereby solve the problem, but it's not worth the precedent.
John Millington (@zapitron.bsky.social) reply parent
If someone *literally tells you* "I'm going to punch you in the face" why would you put up sign saying "he won't punch us in the face?" He told everyone he was going to impose tariffs. Everyone knew prices would go up. Everyone. The guy who put up this sign must have known, too.

Senile. Looks damn near complete, too. This isn't the very stable genius who wrote the "having nuclear" speech of 2015. 2025 Trump just isn't anywhere near that coherent.

Generally weakening the US economy and destroying our ability to wage war wouldn't be distressing for Putin, would it? If you hypothesize Trump et al work for Putin, Trump's actions all have very simple and parsimonious explanations. It's like playing analyst on easy mode.
John Millington (@zapitron.bsky.social) reply parent
Hopefully we all abstain from enacting the new constitutional amendment that would be required, in order to put presidents in charge of this stuff. But we'll see. Maybe Putin has 3/4 of Americans' admiration and obedience?

I know what we could offer. A few months ago, Trump was complaining that we spent $350B on aid to Ukraine so far. So, instead of insisting that Putin reimburse us $350B, let's give him a a billion dollar discount and insist he repay only $349B of what he owes USA. A billion dollars is something!

He was asked if he could "conceive of situation in which soldier could detain civilian who did not violate criminal law w/o violating PCA?" and said No. If they _intend_ to start detaining people who haven't broken the law, then makes sense to for DoJ to say Harrington's _opinion_ is irrelevant.
John Millington (@zapitron.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, but we all knew that before the judge wrote his opinion. ... which the judge also knew, and also wrote into his opinion. Ok, got me there. :-)
John Millington (@zapitron.bsky.social) reply parent
Wow, he sounds absolutely exhausted. Good to know he's never too tired, though, to explain to everyone that he's an anti-American piece of shit. And it's only now, thanks to our cutting off trade with so many other countries that China hasn't cut off, that China has started to "beat us" at trade.

John Millington (@zapitron.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh well. WHO CARES?! Aren't testimonies to Grand Juries kind of the least-solid and least-interesting aspect anyway? Whatever that testimony was, people got to the bottom of it later, so either it got confirmed (the DoJ found more/actual evidence) or didn't (in which case it's just rumors).
