Humans are slow compared to bots, and occasionally even thoughtful. An Internet built for humans looks very different than the one we have today. There are plenty of modifications that would be almost unnoticed by humans, but essentially fatal to bots and the business models that rely on them.
Alexander M. (@alexm920.bsky.social) reply parent
Similarly, we see AI slop being pumped out endlessly and nearly instantaneously, hoping for a viral spark. But what if there were a human-scale rate limit? Perhaps one video per day on YouTube? A thought today; we need more friction on the internet. Aggregated from conversations over the last decade really. In my mind, a big reason dems are so wildly unpopular right now is there’s no indication they’re interested in fighting back in ways that matter. Just gaining office so they can keep the lights on til the next wild rightward swing can occur. A clear vision, candidates with fight in them, then maybe.
Alexander M. (@alexm920.bsky.social)
My (maybe tepid) take today is that Dems need some public-facing document a la Project 2025 laying out their vision for the country. Not duct-taping institutions back together, but the big transformative changes the left flank have championed. Of course it’d require leadership that WANTS change.
