I agree, “save democracy” sounds vague and aspirational. Im saying Restore Article One, and before you tell me that’s too vague, take a few moments to think about what congress can stop Trump from doing by just flipping the house. These are all Article One duties:
I have to disagree. The point I was trying to make is that we are witnessing a rapid destruction of our ability to self govern and that is the foundation that guarantees us the ability to achieve the changes we desire.
Has anyone actually been in a Dem “focus group”? I wonder if they only happen in battleground districts. They keep saying “we need to meet voters where they are”, but I don’t think they even know where we are. These people are operating in a bubble. Even the consultants only talk among themselves.
Even “working people” see the most important job ahead is to Restore Article One duties to congress. Everything else is aspirational at this point. If dems just flip the house in 2026 they can restore congressional oversight and slow down Trump’s illegal power grab. THAT is the winning message, sir!
Yes, ARTICLE ONE clearly grants that power to congress. Now talk about the other ARTICLE ONE duties this congress has shirked. No amount of screaming about “Democracy” is going to force congress to do their jobs. Only a shift in control of the house can slow Trump down. That’s a winning message!

Here’s an example of congress’ failure to uphold their Article One duties: Why are we paying a private Supreme Court litigator to have the courts rule that Trump’s tariffs are illegal, when that is members of congress’ job?

There are several steps they could take that fall under Article One oversight duties. Rather than screaming about “Protecting Democracy”, Dems should be promising to restore Article One and spell it out to the voters. It would be a winning message.

I think there may be trouble brewing for seniors wishing to get an updated Covid vaccine. The HHS statement is vague, but implies a prescription is required. This also can be construed to mean if you don’t have Med part D it’s going to be out of pocket. So how much $? Walgreens doesn’t even know.

It’s time people start talking about 2026. We may not be able to stop Trump in 2026 but we can sure as hell slow him down. Even if we only win back the majority in the house there would be more oversight than we have now.

Trump could boast that he unloaded an economic burden on the US economy and ended the war in Europe.
To understand the odds, look at this from Trump’s perspective. Alaska contributes only 4% of US oil production. It is not a donor state, it is a taker state. He likely sees it as a drain on the economy. Alaska is only .2 percent of the US population, so losing our red votes is inconsequential to him
What’s more concerning is that right now we have a congress that would allow Trump to do this.
I’ll go it alone if nothing else pops up.
