My library has extensive resources about New Orleans history including maps and newspapers. I have found so much interesting info about my house which was built in 1885! Our library has free seeds, and an extensive DVD library for loan.
I agree. When I was learning different projects (zip pouches, tortilla warmers, makeup brush rolls, etc) I made notes all along the way, with measurements and even little sketches sometimes.

In fact, all these tote bags were made from Thrifted material, including the lining and the handles. The belt section of the thrift store is great for finding handles for tote bags.
Once you start sewing, remember that thrift stores are an excellent source of fabric. Tablecloths, fabric shower curtains, sheets, etc have tons of fabric in them. Going to the thrift store with a fabric store mentality. I made a tote bag this week from a pair of jeans. I thrifted for a dollar.
You should try it! Just start with something easy like some napkins or a placemat. Just something to get you started. I did this during Covid making masks and now I’m sewing stuff all the time.
My oldest daughter was in an offsite facility one day last week, and there was a dot matrix printer sitting on a table, still had paper in it and was connected to their network.
I have to tell you that the bra I got from Soma is the most comfortable one I’ve ever had in my life, and I am almost 70 years old. It’s called Enbliss. If you can get it in your size, I highly recommend it.
My first rotary cutter was the kind that did not retract. I dropped it on my foot and you know what happened. I retired that one and bought one where you have to press the handle to make the blade come out when you want to use it. So if you drop it on your foot, it’s closed.
Yes, I have one pair of Fiker scissors that I actually wrote on them with a sharpie “fabric only”. I have another pair of really nice ones that I keep hidden away and only I know where they are.

I don’t know why everyone is making such a big deal out of this. When my dad was in his 80s, he bruised like that just from normal activity. Just bumping his hand against the wall, could cause a bruise almost exactly like that. trump is probably on blood thinner.
I grew zinnias from seed last year and this year. Just started a second crop. Also have okra plants that I grew from seed.

There’s no wrong way to make okra. I’ll eat it raw it the pods are small. My husband cooks up okra, tomatoes, and shrimp with a little bit of old bay seasoning, and some onions and green peppers. It is absolutely fantastic.

Tote bag with lining made from thrifted items. If you aren’t checking out the belt section of the thrift store, you are missing out!
I’m in New Orleans…I had 22 chrysalis around my milkweed area earlier this year. They all hatched successfully. The milkweed has recovered and has eggs on it. Hoping for another crop of butterflies before winter.
This is fabric from a thrifted tablecloth. It’s going to be a grow bag for my daughter. She’s going to actually poke holes in the bottom of it, fill it with dirt and plant potatoes in it. The sturdy handles will make it easy to move the bag around. I’m going to get six bags out of that tablecloth.
This is a little bit on the rough side, but I like it. I repurposed a pair of jeans into a tote bag, and use the waistband for the handles.

I have a cast iron skillet that belonged to my great grandmother and dates back to the late 1800s. I have a rocking chair that belonged to my grandmother that she used to rock my mom in. Also a cedar chest my mom got as a high school graduation gift.
I don’t mean to be picky about this, but the correct spelling is ‘sowing’, as in sowing seeds. The only reason I’m mentioning it is that the ‘sewing’ that you used is causing this to show up in the #sewing area and I was really confused why that was happening. lol.
I just got finished paying more than I’d like to admit to have a guy do the tile in our new bathroom. Look at these beautiful mitered cuts. He did a fantastic job. This is why I am not employed as a tile setter lol.

I bought some safety pins for quilting and I really like them. Those part on the bottom is a little bit curved and it makes it easier to put the pan through the fabric
I have tiled. It’s not as hard as it looks really except for having to cut the tiles at the edges in the corners. Keeping the seams in between the tiles consistent can be a challenge too. You can do it!
One tip I can give…watch the edge of the fabric, not the needle. Align the fabric edge with the little ruler printed on the machine and that will help you sew straight.

How on earth do yours look so healthy? Mine have small leaves and scrunched-up-looking roses. Some of the roses never open. I’ve been using the rose granules on them for 2 months now, the bayer ones.
