Congress can rewrite legislation to address your concerns. Doing nothing and allowing networks to spread misinformation and become propaganda outlets for a single party or politician is not the intention of the first amendment it actually stifles free speech.
Individual network stations are FCC-licensed. If the government were to shut down your local station, it would cause significant financial distress to the network as a whole.
You can’t yell “fire” in a movie theater,and hate speech is also regulated.Congress can’t make laws prohibiting your right to speak freely,but they mandate that others have the same right. In other words, stations like Fox can’t prohibit other views, so they must give equal time for opposing views.
The first amendment doesn’t need to be amended.
