i think voter reg tells the story better bc only looking at election results doesn’t account for gerrymandering and voter suppression. here in “deep red” louisiana, we had a very popular dem governor for eight years (until 2024), our current shitbag R gov was elected by ***19%*** of the voters.
even CA is less than 50% democrat, by voter registration 45% dem, 25 rep, the rest independent or 3rd party looks pretty fuckin purple to me

i'm sorry you don't consider picking up trash to be meaningful work. to me it's a whole hell of a lot more important to community safety than chasing after a guy who threw a sandwich.

wow, that was quite a read. and either their behavior is waaaay more common than i realized, or i know a family the blog analyzes! 😳 also, my dad was estranged from his family by the time i was born, but it was about a lot more than who voted for whom (if that’s how we’re defining “politics”).
it was the only thing on my MIL's bucket list, and what they wanted to do to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. 🤷♀️ so we finally gave in. it was fine. but change any of those variables -- the weather, using the $$$ lightning lanes, or our not really caring much -- and it could have sucked.

this is terrible. i’m so sorry. we adopted our first kitten two months ago, my 17 yr old picked him out and was to be his primary human…and the kitten DIED twelve hours later. it was awful but at least, as my son eventually noted, we didn’t have much time to get attached to him. sorry for your loss.
