I pay for eye, dental and health on blue cross, until I’m 65. The amount BC has to pay for my exam is $100. My out of pocket for the exam is $200. But, the eye doc offers a discount to pay in cash, no insurance billing for $150. So, blue cross never has to pay the $100 for my exam.
I travel to Barcelona for eye care. So much better and affordable.

If you are traveling in the UK, you can’t get care. I had an urgent retinal issue, could not get in to a private hospital. Sent to the NHS eye emergency in London. Two docs treating well over 50 people. It would be 8 hours to see a doc. Flew to Barcelona and had surgery the same day for $1200 US.
