I'm ashamed to admit that I was really nervous to vaccinate my cats because--although rare--it can cause cancer at the injection sites. And unlike humans, cats can't tell me when something is wrong, AND their healthcare costs way more. I realize that's not an excuse, but it still made me anxious.
Does anyone besides me miss classroom learning? I can't afford to go back to college, but man my brain craves that structured style of learning, with actual consequences if you don't do the work. Harvard has free courses, but they're just videos. I'll never be disciplined enough to finish those.

I lived for a couple years in FL. One year, my apartment became the new hangout for huntsman spiders. You ever seen one of those fuckers? I was so terrified I started crying. Final year, I was reaching in the medicine cabinet and there was a "baby" one crouched behind my toothbrush. NO THANK YOU.
We used to get them all the time in my childhood home. Not knowing their name, I called them featherleggers. And they absolutely terrified me. Whenever I saw one, I'd be jumping at every shadow or tickle on my skin for hooouuuuurrrs.
But also I suppose burying them, even after all this time, would put a new sort of finality to it? Like it really WOULD feel like she's no longer around.
I lost my mom 10 years ago next month, and there's no way I could ever bury her ashes. Maybe it's because of our unhealthy enmeshed relationship (she was terrified of abandonment, so I was basically her mini-me), but I need her with me...especially since I moved so much. XP

Update: the cat had injured the snake's tail tip, and he was listless so I worried he'd been more injured. But I think he was mostly cold from the AC. I held him in my hands to warm him up and set him in an outdoor pot. Checked later and he was gone. Live better, little dude! ❤️

Found a snake in the house today. Just a teeny thing. In fact, I thought it was a rolled up, felted piece of cat fur the vacuum had created. Then my boyfriend exclaimed "...it's moving!" It was a rough earth snake, and SO CUTE. But I'd really rather they all stay outside!

I was always Team Book in the past, until I spent a year and a half homeless (and later lost all my possessions). Then I realized how comforting it is to have all my books on one device. There are some types of books I still prefer to have in physical form, though.
