The only people keeping their homes are cashing in their 401Ks and paying off their mortgages, so they don't have to have insurance, then they have to pay the penalties for taking so much out of their 401Ks. I don't have a 401K. Bankruptcy all around, for people who never did anything wrong.

The insurance companies probably want out of responsibility for natural disasters due to climate change. They read the statistics and know the math. This is not going to go to a class action lawsuit unless the lenders get involved, but they won't because they have a self insurance plan.

The ideal person would be able to qualify for a $108k home loan. Real estate debt is usually good for a credit rating, and $108k is pretty cheap for adding real estate to a portfolio.

That's how we got the fabulously expensive replacement insurance... That immediately cancelled us, too, saying the roof is from 2000 when it's really from 2012. I gave them $2,700+ to bind and they only gave us $953 back when they cancelled us. We purchased that insurance through FAIR.

We have a construction engineer who is a registered Building Inspector checking the roof this afternoon. Maybe his report and letter will help us, but I understand that as a client with two cancellations, we are now marked as irresponsible and may remain uninsurable. 🧵

Our insurance was cancelled unfairly, and there is no legal path to appeal an unfair decision. It automatically marks us as irresponsible and any new policy will cost more than the mortgage. This is how the Not Sees are taking lots of people's homes.
I will be getting some money to replace the roof, but the insurance will then be more than the mortgage. (By the way, there's nothing wrong with the roof which was new in 2012)
