Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
It's that time of year. We popped out this evening to collect this lot, will get some more tomorrow since a neighbour lent us their fruit picker.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Oh wow, I had no idea. It's running here right now!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I haven't written any Pascal in 40 years. What is it?
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Bezel-tastic!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
It's been a while since I used it. What about TightVNC/xtightvncviewer?
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
NOPE!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
You'll never defeat Thargoids or Thargons at that speed :)
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
^d every time.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Cute as anything, done!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Promising, but it purports to be PCRE yet doesn't seem to support positive/negative lookahead/behind assertions ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Not been there for ages, could be up for this one.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I don't tend to use VNC from my Linux machines but the last time I did I think I used RealVNC. Is it no good these days?
Steve (@protovision.co.uk)
Does anyone remember synergy, originally for Linux, the little application that allowed you to share a keyboard and mouse over the network? It still exists but good grief, it's as corporatively shit as it could be now. Are there any alternatives? I want to remotely control a Windows laptop.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Does this mean I can put the fire on? I miss the fire!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Same here, MACH 2 takes up the largest percentage due to the laserdisk, not the greatest game of course but it's one I loved from back then. My issue is all the PS1/2/PSP games I either owned or like playing, you're right with too much choice!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Maintaining them is a chore. I've spent more time sorting out romsets for various platforms than playing the games. My emulation directory is over 360gig.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I did wonder if I'd get bored of pizza after a while, but I haven't yet. We had a friend over one night, he was so convinced he bought one himself! I imagine naans would be amazing from it.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Yes, although like you allude to you're a little limited with headroom. The pizza is amazing though, just like from a wood fired oven, we'll never buy a pizza again. It's electric so lives on a kitchen counter, no messing with gas, wood or pellets.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I bought a pizza oven in May, one of the best things I've ever bought.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I have no beef with him. Nice shirt though.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Did you take the train (overnighter?) or fly down? I'd love to do the The Caledonian Sleeper but it's both rather expensive for two and not quite long enough.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I'll hit 200k probably next year (Land Cruiser 100TD), although it did have a new short engine just before I bought it at about 155k so realistically it's at 43k or something.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Free ball!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Nice work!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
He was extremely handy with an airbrush.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Good effort, but it was for 16K Spectrums too :)
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Wishing people dead is of course not good, but one does reap what they sow.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
The problem is it was done in the first place. Despicable acts.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Except he won't. Someone else can, though.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Love it, Right on Commander!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I bet it's noisy when that poor little girl tries to ride her bike.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Not a bean.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Also software developers on a Monday morning.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk)
I can't reply to this post but I'd like a Metroidvaniaslug Street Fighter II.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
So are his legs.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
We're out of sesame seeds too. Need to do a shop!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
We do a great crispy chilli garlic chicken which looks similar, but no spring onion garnish? :)
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
They love it!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Didn't apply much science there then!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I have a couple of rolls of 110 film inside two really old Kodak Ektra 90s to finish off. Looking forward to tiny, grainy prints.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
What jurisdiction do they have then? The world has gone mad.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Err, that's EXACTLY what my posts did. You just dismissed them as "crappy conspiracies". What on earth, if you'll excuse the pun, was my "conspiracy"? Telling the truth? The truth is "negativity"? Have a holiday.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Might be CPU bound, someone will have to check the logs :)
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Because "this type of post" is clickbait and simply not true. Earth's night sky never looked like this.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
It's not me making the assertion that the night sky looked like this "once", so the burden of proof would be on you. How long an exposure do you think it'd take to get that photo? I really don't get why people will blindly believe made-up stuff like this on the internet.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
No there wasn't.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
There wasn't.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I love it.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Fully warranted. I'm resigned and will just do my best, not much more I can do.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
The word "bubble" springs to mind. beenthere.com, donethat.com.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I feel that pain. Mostly because of Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng's so-called "mini budget" that fucked everyone up. Banks closed mortgage applications entirely for weeks because of the economical uncertainty, and when they came back, were up by 5%.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
We seem to live on a training flight path, we get Apaches and Chinooks at very low (<400ft) level weekly, mid-Beds.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Happy birthday!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Oh I love a Milky Bar, not had one in ages!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I'm looking forward to the punchline.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
It's a Collie.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Two, poached, on toasted sourdough, covered in black pepper, and some hot sauce on the side. Around 9.30am, thanks!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I think I'll have to insist on the eggs.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Good call, I can wait.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Actually that's not too bad, it'd sate me for about 5 hours!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk)
I could absolutely smash two weeks in a villa with a private pool in Paxos right now.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
This is the stupidest, most irrelevant thing I've read in the last minute.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
This is the stupidest thing I've read in the past hour. Most Danes read, write and speak at least two languages.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
It also dropped VAT on ebooks in 2020, however most publishers just charged the same and kept it for themselves ...
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
It's 22C inside and I feel cold, I've put a jumper on!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I'm glad I don't know everything or I'd never watch a film again!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I can't even read the comments on that post, the doubling- and tripling-down is too depressing.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Later on in the film they're waiting for a signal on VHF yet they use a Yaesu FT-101ZD, which is of course HF only :D Perhaps there is a transverter hidden away. I have a high tolerance for this sort of thing, it's brain-out stuff.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
pico8 is so much fun. I really must finish the 2600 conversions I started ages ago.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
This is really weird.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk)
When I woke up this morning I noticed some 'stuff' on the floor next to the cat bed. Upon closer inspection it looked like 4-5 rather large spider legs, some were over 3 inches long! I think the cat must have eaten it overnight, grim. How long has that been in the bedroom?!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
This is a composite.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
'e' and 'r' being next to eachother is a right pain if you typo when using crontab(1).
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Hope you're all stocked up and pumped out!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
That was the year I first got internet access. I looked after the website for my department at BRE on VMS, then via a SLIP connection from my A1200 with Online Entertainment where you had to pay per minute :)
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Who knows, or dares to dream?!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Also, it must have been great to be mortgage-free at 40! Different times.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Who didn't? :)
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I watch him too, very informative. We have friends that live on one, and my brother lived on one for about 10 years. What we're after is something quite large which will negate the use of some canals. We're not planning on cruising all of them though, just around the Rivers Lea and Stort.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk)
Here's Seamus, following us around while we foraged in the field out back earlier.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
There was a covenant on our old place that also said no chickens, weird isn't it. We just picked some apples today for a crumble, got some pears and blackberries too. Steam engines though, that's REALLY harsh :)
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
One of the best (or the best?) looking 8 bit micros ever.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
It will be harder, especially things you take for granted like parking the car (or bike!), but would enable us to save significantly faster since outgoings would be about 25% of what they are now. Fortunately we like the outdoors and nature.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I'm the same in the UK. Got a fair bit in savings but that isn't enough unless we want to move further afield (can't because of work), and it will be harder for me to find work (IT) as I get older if I need to. Seriously considering buying a massive widebeam canal boat instead.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I'd be getting legal on whoever made that video's arse.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
We've just been up the field out back and got black berries.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Bet it smells lovely in that room.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Haha!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk)
I'd forgotten about this sort of thing until I saw the spectogram on foobar2000. Aphex Twin's Formula/Equation (not its actual title) on the Windowlicker EP.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Adorable.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Yes agreed. Car ownership isn't cheap anymore :( I'm amazed the tax is so expensive - £100 more than my 4.2TD Land Cruiser, that's crazy!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Oh cool, I heard that loads! Excellent.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I think they get fed by tourists at Arthur's Pass, not good, we watched one strip the rubber away from someone's hire car's side window while we were there!
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Don't think I saw a morepork, I might have heard one but wouldn't have recognised it. It really is a different world over there.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
They're so tame around Arthur's Pass, they sat on the roof of the car, got some fun photos of them. Near Aoraki/Mt Cook you can see them flying around, great to see and hear.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Kea, Tūī (copy pasted that), some kind of albatross over the Foveaux Straight on the way to Stewart Island, but I heard Kiwi under and around the Camphouse on the side of Taranaki one night. It was like being on another planet, everything was completely different.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
I would be utterly traumatised! NZ is good for birds, I'd never really been interested in birds until I went there and saw some different things.
Steve (@protovision.co.uk) reply parent
Shame. Is it worth getting a quote if it'll last another few years, or is it too far gone?
