This. Even w/ample NWS warnings, Kerr Co.'s Guadalupe River rose over 34 feet in 5 hours during the night. They can't be sure about how high because the gauge broke. I oppose the agencies' cuts whole-heartedly; and bad, state & local policy decisions existed, but facts matter. Minimizing hurts.
And audiobooks are an absolute godsend for folks with certain reading challenges. Whatever works! But, yeah, AI as high tech cliff notes, not a fan.
Just sayin', in the 2024 presidential election and 2022 governor election, over 40% of Texans voted democrat. You're not wrong about active voter suppression tactics, but painting any state or demographic group with the same brush is, IMO, dangerous.

Glad you've missed them, but plenty of posts/replies here blaming the victim based on how the OP thinks Texans vote for president & governor. The state is so gerrymandered and voting so actively suppressed that non-red votes have a hard time counting.

My point is, there often may not be a lot of other options at that moment for the folks who need those jobs. All I'm saying is that restrictions and rules about these things exist. I'm not happy about it, and I'm sincerely glad you haven't experienced them, but they are out there.

One implication of cutting Medicaid funding I haven't seen discussed much—physician education. My wife started an OBGYN residency today, and something like 2/3 of her salary is paid by Medicaid. Our medical system is propped up by underpaid, overworked residents subsidized by the government.

Today's SCOTUS ruling will create a chaotic and confusing patchwork of rules across the country. Constitutional rights like birthright citizenship shouldn’t depend on where you live or whether you can file a lawsuit in time. This ruling creates a reality in which that could be the case.
