It is sad that this happens but, despite colonisation and its aftermath, this behaviour is not confined to one skin colour. Generalising any such phenomenon is lazy thinking and quite possibly as biased as the racists.
However, don’t take the poor showing for the marches on Sunday as proof that racism is rare. To appear at such a march is a very strong message that one is racist. This means only the really committed and QLD parliamentarians will turn up. But so many with milder racism will not.

“The President ought to know better” to me indicates a lack of appreciation of what is happening to his mind. This treats him as normal and, thus, able to be swayed to do the right thing. But he’s not “normal” and cannot be “swayed” to better deeds.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist but it occurred to me that, the unwillingness to be seen at close range and the unusual refraining from public speechifying, could indicate that this is a body double.
