This type of advice is already about 4 decades old. It's part and parcel of the consultant's copy/paste advice to Democratic candidates not to be portrayed as a liberal. Truly odd that ol' Nate doesn't have similar advice for Republicans about Truth Social.

Well, he's not wrong. The Republicans have a sick obsession with guns (mental health) and absolutely no empathy for the kids who get shot unless they know them personally (human heart). The Republican Party has been the problem in every problematic situation our country has faced for decades.

I think it goes even deeper. They've built their entire sense of self around guns, in essence. Having them taken away would expose them to the bleak emptiness of being a "Christian" without following Christianity and being a "patriot" without believing in anything America stands for.

I was a teacher in a school where an armed hostage incident occurred more than 30 years ago, and adults who were students in my classroom that day still remember and are haunted by it. Seeing that kid on the news who watched his friend get shot yesterday damned near unmanned me.
