If you're the type of person to get upset over being called out, then you belong on X. I don't know what to tell you. Go back to the app where anyone can post anything. Let Bluesky die, but you won't. You'll keep posting here because you actually prefer this place, just not being called out.

As opposed to the pleasant right wing circles? What the hell lmao. Liberals get so anxious and insecure whenever nazis aren't circling them, what gives?

Not that I don't visit Louisiana every year, but you don't even need to leave your house to understand the rural American. You don't even need to be American to see the insecurities manifest as suicidal tarrifs and xenophobia. The secret is out: rural Americans are sad and want everyone else to be.

I'm afraid Dems and libs alike will spend the next few years hyping themselves around a politician who isn't even very liked in the state that he governs. I'm afraid Gavin Newsom is the limitation of liberal imagination during the most violent throes of fascism in our lifetimes.

Considering all the substanceless anger and snide liberal attitude in this thread, I'd say it fits pretty well. Feel free to give a better summary, Peter.

People wouldn't care about boomers being old and dumb if they weren't also VPs of entire companies and middle managers controlling the lives of millions. The problem has always been that boomers are the wealthiest and most powerful people while also expeirencing expected mental decline.

Every big music streaming service hasn't had a real shuffle for a while now. They aren't broken, they're deliberately designed to only play newer songs in the playlist or songs that are similar to the one you're not skipping. True randomness isn't allowed in our modern algorithm age.

What an investment. They can pander to a shrinking/aging audience of liberals while punching left at anyone who speaks out against Israel, transphobia, Capitalism. We should make an entire political party out of people like this, I'm sure they'll be successful in making the world a better place.

Nah, I can at least respect Warfare for knowing exactly what it is. Civil War 2024 isn't this. Civil War 2024 IRL would be Gavin Newsom becoming a fascist dictator while communists and nazis team up to take him down with the help of the Israeli government.

I do sympathize with this but my thing with parents is they should be more worried that their kid is distracted all day, cheating, or choosing to scroll instead of socialize. The damage this is doing to your kid is very documented and real, and it's happening every day unlike a freak shooting.
Broccoli (@cryopunk.bsky.social) reply parent
Well the point of the parents is that they have power and can turn "skipping class" into "missing this very important thing, don't make me come up there again"
Broccoli (@cryopunk.bsky.social) reply parent
Americans when their kid is at school: Ahh thankfully I have unlimited access to my kid right now, they can tell me anything! Americans when their kid is at home: You'll get over it, it's just a phase, I don't wanna talk about it anymore.
Broccoli (@cryopunk.bsky.social) reply parent
When I was in school parents could just call and their kid would immediately be pulled from class to talk to them. I do remember even this being abused by a couple of my friends to get picked up whenever they just wanted to go home, not even sick or anything. That was how we got here.

Broccoli (@cryopunk.bsky.social) reply parent
You're right but it does trigger the same thing in my brain when I see people being weird online about celebs. Phones have given parents access to so their kid and everything about them so quickly, it's easy to forget how much more private a kid's life was 25 years ago.
Broccoli (@cryopunk.bsky.social) reply parent
This is the excuse used to cover the fact that American parents have developed weird parasocial relationships with their own kid. I mean you can even include this, your kid is far more likely to grow up with a bad AI powered education than experience a shooting. Not that we don't need gun control.
Broccoli (@cryopunk.bsky.social) reply parent
The way teachers talk about parents make them sound like mob bosses. They have so much power over their own kid at the school that even taking a student's phone away can be a problem to them, teachers just stop bothering.

Maybe I'm baby being denied healthcare because my politicians are 60 years old and don't care about how hard it is to raise a child right now.
Broccoli (@cryopunk.bsky.social) reply parent
Also I thought about this for 20 more seconds. The problem with our average politician being 60 years old and increasing isn't how it matches life expectancy, it's that the first 25 years of your life are the most important and you become increasingly out of touch with that as you age.
Broccoli (@cryopunk.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh god the cope. Pack it up boys, America is not a late stage gerentocracy.
Broccoli (@cryopunk.bsky.social) reply parent
People get weird about the young part but I cannot overstate how big it is for Americans to see someone their age fight for them with the same sense of urgency and authenticity. This is how politics is supposed to be. It used to be normal for 35 year olds to steer the will of the nation.

Americans know other countries have normal healthcare. We know our "unfixable" healthcare system is entirely profit driven, and half-measure cope like this holds less water as the decades go on. Americans will prefer Republicans who actually admit we don't deserve healthcare, that we all die.
