All because trans kids wanted to play sports and go to the bathroom. I try not to dwell on it too much as it’s demoralizing, but it’s has to be among the stupidest things a country has ever done.
Stop as much funding as possible, fire all the people needed to permit projects and put tariffs on imports and it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone the economy is grinding to a halt. There is just a fundamental lack of understanding of how it’s all connected.
Basically many Americans are dumb and choose this path believing the most obvious and predictable outcome wouldn’t occur because Trump told them it wouldn’t.
There are certainly fewer projects going, so this is in line with what I'm seeing in the market.
Coming into the summer there was a general sense that any of the 4 forwards other than Mo could move on and could be upgraded, so changes up front were certainly anticipated.
Think the point is if you don’t want to up someone’s wage and pay market value for his production then you are acknowledging they are likely going to want to leave. You also have to look at the window as preparing for the next 4 years and while there is still work to be done, we can still win now.
I’m saying they were perfectly happy to sell him if he wanted to go and they got the fee they wanted. I’m not buying this notion we are weaker up front. They’ve replaced 24 league goals from Diaz, Nunez and Jota, with Isak’s 23, Ekitike’s 15, Wirtz’s 10, and maintained pathway for Rio to develop.
I think the club were fully prepared to sell Diaz. There was noise last summer, and if you aren’t going to give a 28 year old an extension, then you’ve decided you are okay with selling if player wants it and a bid comes in.
I’m sure not I’d frame it as LFC didn’t consider them good options, rather the players they went for were better or a more suitable fit.
Hope one of these other teams throws stupid money at him and promises of a starting place so LFC goes and gets someone else.

My take is Slot's decision came down to Endo over Chiesa, more than Rio over Chiesa, so he'd have the extra midfielder/defender rather than the extra forward.

Most LFC fans thought the same when Klopp was leaving, but the change has actually regenerated things more quickly than Klopp likely would have been able to do.
Is it more important that Arteta is given time to prove he can win or that Arsenal win?
After 6 years, Klopp had reached 2 CL finals, winning one, and had 2 seasons of high 90's points total in the league, winning once and reached multiple other finals. I'm not sure there is evidence Arteta is able to do that, but that is just my outside perspective.
As Liverpool fan, I’m happy you have so much patience. I’m curious what you’d consider a successful season/enough progress this season to give it more time? Is second place and a decent run in CL enough or do you need to win something?
I think what people are saying, without explicitly saying it, is this version of Arsenal, with Arteta manager and Odegaard as most important player, need to win now or there is a fairly strong case that both of those things should be upgraded if they want finally get over the line.

Yes it literally is my opinion, but it’s based on the fact he’s 23 and your assumption he triggers the buy clause, so reasonable to expect he’ll be at Villa 2-3 years. LFC have bought 2 midfielders over age 25 in 10 years, Thiago and Endo, so yeah I think it’s unlikely they spend money on him.

If Elliott comes back to LFC, it will likely be on a free when he's reached the stage of his career he'd be happy with a squad position again. Considering the age profile in his positions, unlikely he'll develop enough to be seriously considered as a starter that they'd go spend money to get him.

Maybe, but it will need to be addressed at some point. I have faith, maybe unfounded, in Gomez and think Leoni may surprise. I’m ultimately glad Guehi deal fell through and hope we look elsewhere.
It’s not like Ekitike is soft and didn’t know Isak was coming when he signed. Plenty of minutes for all.
So glad we get another season of Chiesa. Just put him on the field and we score winners 😂. Don’t have super high expectations, but he’ll contribute in key moments.
Ted spot on with his LFC analysis, which is: LFC bought to compete for 4 years and are a couple players short of a dynasty, but those players will come. He also contrasted it with Arsenal who bought to win now, but also bought contract issues down the line.
10/10 window for me. We kept all the players I wanted to keep, sold the ones I thought we should sell, bought the players I wanted to buy and missed out on the player I wanted to miss out on.
League goals last season: Salah: 29 Isak: 23 Ekitike: 15 Gakpo: 10 Wirtz: 10 Total: 88 Liverpool scored 86 last season.
For all the talk of Arsenal’s approach, that Arteta is winless in 15 or 16 games at LFC and City, really is quite damning.
They may not win anything but, bloody hell, this is going to be a fun team to watch.
Five forwards was our advantage last season, but plenty of teams have won it with 4. Liverpool won it with 3 and Origi/Shaq. We’ll have other advantages this season and the squad will be used differently, but numbers are there to at least get to January.
Jones, Gakpo, and Dom all seem capable of playing 500-1000 minutes more than they did last season. Lenoi should be expected to handle bottom half competition. Slot seems to love him. Rio and Nyoni look ready to contribute.
The squad has 16 players who most would reasonably feel comfortable starting, plus Endo and Chiesa, who are experienced starting for most of their career.
Schedule is kind enough until November to work out the kinks. Already having a gap at the top very helpful. I hope we are peaking in March/April. Can’t wait for it all.
Elliott leaving means Nyoni will get the minutes he needs. Wirtz, and any combination of Isak, Salah, Gakpo and Ekitike, will take some stopping once they get fit and a better understanding. Rio to add some spice.
I’m honestly just happy Chiesa and Gomez are staying and can’t wait to see our new massive Italian bossing forwards.
CBA if the Guehi deal comes off. He’d definitely strengthen the squad, but could do without another player thinking they are a prophet for an imaginary man in the sky.
35M for someone who played less than 200 meaningful PL minutes last season is good money.
My opinion on Elliott is quite different than most. Wish him well, but think that price is pretty fair for what he brings.

Every club has players they will forever boo. It’s effective when they play against you, but I’ve found I’ve generally softened on them as they move into retirement.
I hope LFC fans don’t spent too much time pulling receipts for our NUFC brethren, but I will enjoy watching it.

The thing that makes VAR frustrating is this notion the ref is obligated to overturn the call if VAR thinks so. The play in question probably deserved the ref take a second look, but he should just say he’s fine with decision and move on.

It seems like over time, only one club embraced the identity of something that was culturally relevant across and made it a central part of the club’s identity. Why did it stick at Liverpool and not other places, who knows?
It’s definitely an interesting study in group psychology. It’s not really about the songs, it’s just an overall vibe and speaks to a lack of identity. I think it’s a big reason they haven’t gotten over the line in Europe. You don’t get Istanbul or Barca without an ingrained collective will.
Yeah. When fit he’s consistently been one of our best players over the last decade. I will miss not watching him play for us anymore.
No one is really that arsed, especially about whatever song they now play before games, but literally co-opting chants of one of your biggest rivals does smack of a lack of creativity, but then again, imitation is sincerest form of flattery, so 🤷♂️.
I will be sad to see Gomez leave as he’s a brilliant player and has served the club well, but our perceived lack of depth at CB is primarily due to his body not being reliable enough, so I understand the rationale. Hope he has success at Milan if he ends up going.
