beartrap not bearclaw. Many basic cheap pedals you might find on a 90s mtb or even granny bike are constructed in the same way tho the size of the base platform varies.
If you got the means to do proper metalwork i think making a cage for oldschool pedals would be a good idea. Bearclaw type mtb pedals or random oldschool pedals often have thin metal screwed to a small pedalbody. Make that part in bigger then screw onto.
I have flatpedals on all my bikes and usually no issue. Tho i prefer cushy runners for long rides. If i didn´t despise thick rigid soles for walking i´d use those. On a 50mile ride with the cargo i had thin soles tho. That hurt eventually. I don´t want to have to think about shoe choice.

My cargobike claimed to be suitable for people up to 190cm. I had the suspicion from comments it is not beforehand and went for it anyway. I am 180cm and it was waaaaaay too small. Fixed it with a longer seatpost. I shouldn´t need to read comments to know. Longest+shortest hip to pedal distance

sidenote: not a particular dig against light e-bikes, just don´t get blinded by marketing. My 40kg cargobike is a bitch to carry and to pedal out of the 25kmh limit. A 14-22kg one won´t have huge range but will probs pedal almost as easy as a normal bicycle and running outa battery isn´t a disaster
I noticed that with e-bikes. If the watthours of the battery are easy to find it´s usally a big battery. If they are hard to find it is not. The most genius marketing is selling less weight for alot of money, as usual with bikes, by selling you less of the expensive battery weight.

The 48hp limit for motorcycle beginners created a whole class of bikes with every manufacturer offering some. There´s also limiters for stronger bikes but the 48hp bikes seem popular. The caterham 160 i mentioned is 80hp. If you had a 80hp beginner car class you´d see alot more light n eco cars.
