Not to belabor the point but: I am not the weird one for being this mad at the Democratic Party and its leaders. Look at polls of your average rank and file Dem voters and how they feel about the party now. It is YOU who are out of touch if you’re asking why people are being mean to Dem politicians
Jon H (@jonhobserver.bsky.social) reply parent
I really wonder how the gap between the anger and frustration of registered Democrat voters and the insouciance of Chuck and Hakeem is sustainable. I suppose they assume we have nowhere else to go and are a sort of hostage electorate. But I don't see how this level of tension can be sustained.
Jon H (@jonhobserver.bsky.social) reply parent

I'm inclined to think they will just stick with "RFK is right" rather like the Communists stuck with "Stalin is right" after the Soviet Pact with Hitler. Don't underestimate how ok they are with burning the house down, whether from ideology or self-interest.

I’ve heard from a couple of messaging strategists now that people shouldn’t post so much about COVID19 vaccines because it’s “divisive”. I am here to say that I do not give a damn what is popular. I will never ignore scientific evidence for the sake of expediency, and neither should anyone else.

Calling all the terrible, life-threatening things that are being done 'a distraction' is the dumbest shit that I have ever seen in politics. And your jokes are not funny.

The second sentence contradicts the first sentence. It can't be both a mistake and a conscious decision. But I'm charitably assuming that this was written by a undergraduate intern.

They have actually got worse at this, and a think it is actually part of their 'play dead' strategy. Minor symptom: it used to be fairly easy to get to speak to a staffer in Schumer's offices, but over the last few weeks I have been unable to get a live person there, despite repeated attempts.

Mamdani is all the things that JD is not: charismatic, charming, self-confident and intellectually brilliant. So no wonder JD serves up this low grade xenophobia.
Jon H (@jonhobserver.bsky.social) reply parent
The good thing is that JD has zero charisma and is not liked even by most Republicans. He is also not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. I predict that once he is President, the GOP big shots will all fight with each other and JD won't be able to control the situation.

WW1 was a global disaster extending through East Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. It caused massive famines and epidemics and included major genocides. Conflicts it started went on in some countries until around 1923. Minimizing it is not a serious idea.

The war also caused mass civilian casualties through famine, disease, bombardment and in some cases, actual genocide. These fatalities were especially severe in East Africa, the Ottoman Empire and Eastern Europe. This is massively documented by historians whom this dude has apparently not read.
