I seem to recall reading that a sufficiently sized solar farm in the Sahara desert could literally power the entire world. I mean, obviously this ignores transmission and storage requirements, but theoretically there’s enough solar energy hitting that region alone.
I think Pritzker is pushing back in a more substantive and less “look-at-me” way that I prefer. I’m usually all for levity and humor, but his sober treatment of the situation is someone in the establishment treating this with the seriousness it deserves. And I think we’ve all been craving that.

It’s scary, but has already happened (to a lesser degree) with the internet in general. People need skepticism…they are waaay too trusting of the things served to them online.
People are offloading any small capacity they have to think and reason and ceding that whole process to an AI. It’s crazy how fast it has happened. It comes up all the time, especially with young people, where the refrain of “I asked Chat GPT” is all but ubiquitous.

Jeez…they should definitely not watch popular cinema from hong kong in the 70s and 80s, then. Those movies were all over the map, mostly because they subscribed to the best value for money style of filmmaking. Slapstick comedy, insane violence, melodrama, horror…put all the things in the movie!!

I have a similar thing with MST3k when they laugh at each other’s jokes. I suppose if they did it 20 times an episode it would sour the experience. I didn’t get that feeling from later seasons of Dr. Katz though. Maybe because I buy into the idea that most of the interactions on DK were improv?
I like when they laugh it makes it feel off-the -cuff. Maybe they manufactured those moments, but they feel real to me. (Speaking more of Ben and Dr. Katz moments than the bar stuff.)

My point is that without due process for all, the government can disappear anyone they want at any time (which apparently the GOP is cool with) simply by claiming anyone they disappear isn’t a member of the protected class and they have to prove that because…no due process. It’s a catch 22.

I’m a data guy, but analysis like this undermines the whole POINT of political action. Politicians should be advocates for their beliefs not tailoring their messaging & beliefs to match polling. Say what you believe and why! Persuade people! Move the needle! And if someone changes your mind say so.
