That they function equally-well as an indictment of how neurotypicals treat autists just serves to reinforce my point that people actually do understand autism; they keep writing autists into scripts without even realizing that’s what they’re doing. So, yeah. Droids. Victims of discrimination. Ope.

I’ve always read the droids as being the obviously discriminated-against subordinate class of equal intelligences. They’re an allegory. To things like the Upstairs/Downstairs life in the UK, or slavery, or any of a host of examples from history. How do people not get this? Star Wars isn’t subtle.

Genocide in response to a single terrorist attack can’t be justified if genocide in response to a civil war can’t. Israel loves to try to claim their genocide of the Palestinian people is allowable as a response to a single attack. But that argument would justify the Rwandan genocide. So.

Never forget that the Rwandan genocide, where the Hutu murdered over a million Tutsi. They did so as the direct result of the Tutsi carrying out a literal civil war against the Hutu. Even in response to a civil war, genocide is not valid. Genocide is always wrong. Even in response to a literal war.

Net zero isn’t enough. It has to be net negative. CO2 has to be departing the atmosphere at a greater rate than it is being put in. And we do not control the methane releases so our reduction has to *include* accounting for the natural release of methane from previously-frozen permafrost layers.
