I am not a Joiner for sure. People always advise retirees to take a class, join a club, volunteer to meet people. I look forward to an endless string of days where I don't have to interact with anyone unless I choose. I like people but I don't really want to, you know, talk to them all the time.

I have had this exact experience.
Young people in my circle were not at all enthused about Harris when she would not distance herself from Biden on Gaza. They voted but also I'm here to collect the envelopes. Their friends? I don't know. Even a young black woman co-worker was unenthused.
I see schools every week where parents come over a hour early to wait. And I know a school where a child was killed in the pickup line this spring by a parent's car.
