The South of France is still hot, lovely for cycling, not too expensive, and with better roads and politer drivers compared to UK. You can't go wrong with the Netherlands (apart from headwinds) - it is so made for cyclists!

The last of the swifts here are about to leave for Africa. They are the youngsters hatched this year, and dozens have been swooping near my window, hopefully looking for somewhere to nest next year. I will miss their little screeches and fly-bys over winter.

I am sorry to hear that it was so dreadful. But life is too short to be cold, wet AND anxious about the route. And you can live to fight another day.

Think about this a bit more.

I forgot to add that the word "so" would have worked without the need of any semicolons, colons or full stops. And the racist behaviour of the university would have still been obvious from outer space.

Blimey. Why "always vote Labour" when the party now are egging on and funding a genocide of Palestinian people? Why would it be "hypocritical" to thoroughly reject and oppose their genocidal actions?

E.G. my immigrant dad. One of ten children raised in a slum, lorry driver's mate, fought in WW2, got a beautiful council house. Had six kids who all got free uni education and grants. He still voted Tory and hated socialism. All six kids became socialists. Hope for the next generation?

They were arming, funding and giving logistical support to Israel to enable the genocide. They were “talking” about the sad 😥 genocide - boo hoo. Did nowt to stop it.

I never have school dreams. Because the only time I felt bad in school was when Mr McDermot rapped me on the hand in Infants. I had written my own name in Biro on Josephine Nicholls' umbrella handle! I never felt that someone might burst in and kill me and all my classmates with massive guns.

She opposed arming and funding the genocide you can see on your little phone. One day you should be proven to be a genocide supporter or apologist, and will delete all your posts. And she will be proven to have been the logical, pacifist choice to prevent the murder of a whole people.

I think the HS's main function was to appear in Mary's kitchen and tell her she was up the duff with God's anointed. Bible readers might have been put off by the sudden appearance of an old bearded fella dressed in white. Far easier to have an illuminated dove do the work.

London DLR has had driverless trains for many years, but always have a guard on the trains to ensure safety if anything goes wrong. UK and the USA aren't like China or Hong Kong, which have superb amounts of investment in people-owned infrastructure. UK/USA lag behind.

Would you board a plane taking off with just the pilot and no other on-board staff. If anything goes wrong you need staff back-up on the train. No skimping on safety! The UK transport unions are campaigning for always having a driver and a guard on the train. @rmtunion.bsky.social

France has, what, 57 creaky ageing reactors and they haven't a clue what to do with all the "déchets". They have discussed hurling them into space, burying them in glass (!) and throwing them down very deep crevices. Meanwhile their déchets build up and up and up, to be radioactive for centuries.
