It’s really good & really simple. I just use a lime juice marinade for an hour or two on the shrimp. Lime, onion powder, garlic, chili powder, very finely diced peppers (use as hot as you can handle whether it’s banana peppers or scotch bonnet, or anything in between). Very simple & really tasty
StLSparty’s Music Video of the Day (@stlsparty.bsky.social) reply parent
Grilling some shrimp tomorrow! Will marinate the shrimp in a spicy lime blend I came up with so they’ll be ready to go early afternoon. Adding corn on the cob, & doing a vegetable medley w/redskin potatoes, onions, peppers, mushrooms, pineapple, citrus, cauliflower, broccoli. Might add tuna steaks

Unless there are plans to immediately expand, I’m not sure that spending a hundreds of millions of dollars to build a train track to replace an hours drive with a 45 minute train trip makes a ton of financial sense. Now if you run the track to Minneapolis, Chicago, Des Moines, Iowa City, St Louis…
StLSparty’s Music Video of the Day (@stlsparty.bsky.social) reply parent
Are you at all familiar with the topography of New England? I’m guessing not. And did you realize the roots of the modern Japanese train system began after the country was nearly bombed out of existence when they could literally put tracks anywhere and every dollar was being spent to rebuild?

StLSparty’s Music Video of the Day (@stlsparty.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s easier and cheaper to build around a lightly populated mountain than it is to build surrounded by millions of people, none of whom want a train track near their home.

But, no, that’s not acceptable because it doesn’t help you personally.
StLSparty’s Music Video of the Day (@stlsparty.bsky.social) reply parent
Your best bet isn’t the fully developed east coast, with expensive land. Your best bet would be putting high speed rail in the central US stretching from Detroit to Denver to Phoenix, to Nashville, with all major cities in that region. That track could actually compete with plane travel.
StLSparty’s Music Video of the Day (@stlsparty.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s funny how when somebody asks for clarifications on your math you get all flustered. Bye, Felicia. Listen, I agree that better mass transit would be a great idea. But you’re talking about spending trillions of dollars with no actual plan beyond “wouldn’t it be nice”
StLSparty’s Music Video of the Day (@stlsparty.bsky.social) reply parent
Use your Boston to Atlanta example. Explain how it works, how much it would cost, how long the trip would take. Then compare it to this live shot from Expedia.
StLSparty’s Music Video of the Day (@stlsparty.bsky.social) reply parent
How many people are traveling from Boston to Atlanta? How much would they pay to take the train? How long would it take? Can it compete with the $142 round trip with an under 3-hour flight currently quoted on Expedia? But sure, it’s unpatriotic to ask questions about the feasibility.
StLSparty’s Music Video of the Day (@stlsparty.bsky.social) reply parent
But sure, if you have a reasonable plan that’s financially feasible, present it. But it’s sure seems like you’re just one of those “we should do something even though I have no idea how to pay for it or if enough people would use it at a high enough price to make it viable” whiners.
StLSparty’s Music Video of the Day (@stlsparty.bsky.social) reply parent
The original post was about traveling the “country”. It was not about traveling a geographic segment so you can transfer to another segment, and another, then another, and 28 segments later you get to your destination.

No, I’m just recognizing that there’s a fundamental difference between managing mass transit for an area the size of Vermont & New Hampshire with only a few major population centers, as opposed to a continent-wide network.
StLSparty’s Music Video of the Day (@stlsparty.bsky.social) reply parent
I agree. But it’s not nearly as simple as saying “hey, let’s be like Switzerland”
StLSparty’s Music Video of the Day (@stlsparty.bsky.social) reply parent

I came to the show late, about 10-15 years ago, I’ve felt that except for a few incredible peak episodes, the overall arc of the series is greater than any individual episode. Kind of a sum of the parts thing.

Yet despite all of that, the series still connects to so many people. A friend of mine has 4 daughters. When each is old enough she sits them down to start S1. They’ve all grown up loving the show (#4 still too young).
