McD's pays 2x minimum wage in my area. Back in the 60's they paid minimum. It wasn't enough to pay bills then and it's not now. Teens worked there for spending money, but suburban teens are too cool to do that now and we're deporting the only other people who will work for that pay.

Well, we'll just disagree. I'm stuck on the phrase "global energy" and, as an EE myself, don't see how it relates to the efficiency of solar panels (which can be more efficient that 20% anyway).
No, I think he's saying it would only produce 20% of the energy we use. Quote: "20% of global energy" In fact, according to NASA, the solar energy reaching the Earth is equal to 44 million typical power plants, so, even with all the inefficiencies of panels, etc., he's way off.
Even with that, he seems to have either miscalculated the surface area of the Earth, or is using an incorrect number of the world's energy consumption (not that anyone is suggesting 100% of the power to come from solar).
