We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one. I’m not saying Garland didn’t have an exemplary career. I’m saying that picking a guy with a careful temperament worthy of SCOTUS was the wrong choice given the urgency of the moment. Sally Yates was right there, as were so many others.
I’m not really interested in going too far down this road, but … stump speeches are meant to be the same, so that the same message reaches people across the country. The people who got the chance to meet her consistently talk about her authenticity. This is where the abbreviated campaign hurt a lot.
She had 107 days & she managed to get people who paid attention to politics very excited. (There’s data on how much she won the politically engaged group … and lost the unengaged group.) Yes Ds have to work on culturally piercing the people not paying attention. I have no real opinion on Platner 😂
All that aside … the choice in this election was damn clear & 77 million voters chose the incoherent guy who weirdly swayed to music for 30+ minutes at a rally, who ranted about cats and dogs, and whose clearest campaign message was: mass deportation now. 90+ million voters more were fine with that.
I’m responding to the first post I saw in which you said she had no policies. I’ve pointed out how this is not true. Yes there are issues with certain Democrats behind the scenes, who worked against Kamala Harris. I’ve criticized Jen O’Malley Dillon specifically elsewhere.

Your beef is with the Supreme Court, specifically the Republican majority, which stopped Biden efforts and are enabling this GOP administration. Also with the GOP Congress, which has ceded Constitutional authority to the president.
She ran on policies, as I pointed out at the top, as well as the fact that the other guy wanted to be a dictator & had a whole plan written by his friends and other associates to destroy constitutional democracy. I’m not saying the campaign was perfect & I agree there were D-side forces that hurt.

I felt confident that Kamala Harris would have picked a better suited AG than someone who had been up for a seat on SCOTUS. She did speak frequently & explicitly about the failings and danger of the GOP nominee. This thread started with someone else complaining that she talked too much about him
If we’re talking about the Biden administration now, I was never a fan of the Merrick Garland nomination. Not sure what this has to do with the Harris campaign.
