Like I said, it might not be right, but in the military these type of things go on in all the services. Your “purported” mission is part of it, but much more goes on in daily operations that seems to surprise people. I remember I stood with a shovel cleaning horse droppings during a parade so 🤷♂️
Trust me, I’ve had to do much worse than picking up trash or weeds and seeds during my career. Not saying it’s right, but been there done that.
