First, I am not any kind of medical professional. When my mom was in hospital dying, she was given IV meds through a blood vessel in her neck. There was massive bruising. But this is an extremely poor-quality image, so it's anyone's guess what he looked like when it was taken -- other than frail.

I use the pen that my mother bought for herself with her first paycheck (in the late 1930s or early 40s). It's an Eversharp with a gold nib. I've had it repaired twice and it's still going strong. (I have had helpful kitties, so I keep the pen and ink in a small box and use it.)
