The Tremont Street Station opened on September 1, 1897 in Boston. It was the first subway in North America and the first in the United States. Built to relieve congestion on the busy Tremont Street, this historic tunnel was a streetcar line and is the precursor to Boston's Green Line. #BOSTON #MBTA

So easy after it rains. The dirt just gets rinsed off anything that was kicked up when the field was tilled.

Do you believe some of these farmers work out here in their bare feet? I've also pulled over 30 farm knives out of their fields.. I like to walk tilled fields after we get a rain shower. It's an easy way to find old pottery pieces, pipe stems, and who knows what. You dont even need a metal detector!

The Great Seal of the United States features a bald eagle holding a shield with 13 stripes representing the original 13 colonies, an olive branch signifying peace, and arrows representing war, with the motto "E Pluribus Unum". 2/3

Made it out for a bit today. Tried my best to not scare the geese away. Found a WWI great seal US military uniform button and a nearly obliterated brass thimble that I would say is older than the button. The third picture shows what the button would look like in better condition. 1/3

8/30/1787 Around Maine reports of three loud bangs like cannons firing, which were followed by low rumbling. Observers heard multiple explosions and a rushing sound. Some interpreted it as a sign from God, some believed it was a warming of conflict over the separation of Maine from Massachusetts.

It depends how much you want to spend. I think a great one to learn the ropes on is the Nokta Simplex Ultra, or the Nokta Score. They're both under $300. Garrett makes some really easy to use one too, but I think the starter Nokta kits outperform Garrett ones at the same price.

I'm pretty sure it's some type of bale or bag seal, but it's not lead. I'm pretty sure it's brass based on how it rang up and the hardness. I've never come across any that weren't lead, so im still not sure, but you can see where it was two pieces pressed together.

On patrol at night, a young Coastguardsman caught 2 Germans burying explosives in the sand on Long Island. A huge manhunt ensued in NYC. Two of the Germans turned themselves in and swiftly folded on the rest who were captured in about a week. They were sent to prison, and the other 6 were executed

This day in 1942, 6 German saboteurs who entered the US with plans to destroy industrial plants, bridges, railroads, waterworks, and Jewish-owned department stores were executed. The Germans actually had plans to have multiple teams of 8 enter the country one or two people at a time every few weeks.
