I am in Michigan and feel your pain. Can’t go anywhere east without a four hour train ride west to Chicago first. 🤪🤪🤪
I live within twenty miles of the nearest Amtrack station. But if I want to go to the east coast I have to go four hours west to Chicago by train then catch an eastbound train that will take all day. Or I can catch a bus to go one state south to catch that eastbound train at 3AM. 🤪🤪🤪

Unfortunately the big pharmacy chains cannot administer the new Covid vaccines in some states without a prescription. It is all coming down to which state you live in. Grateful I live in a state where they can administer it without a prescription.

New Mexico has issued a public health order that removes federal restrictions to COVID-19 vaccine access so that pharmacies in New Mexico can vaccinate people of all ages and risk profiles. Every state need to do this!
My older son caught Covid in 2020 before vaccines. His health has been a complete mess ever since due to long COVID. You have my complete sympathy. There are probably a lot of disabled people out there from long covid right now. Not sure if anyone is tracking it given RFK Jr. and his cuts.

The first Covid death in my hospital was a social worker. Doctors and nurses died, but all sorts of other health workers and mental health workers did, too. 😞
I worked inpatient hospital during the first big wave in the Detroit area in late winter and spring of 2020. Will never forget the suffering I witnessed. I woke up screaming many times.
It depends on what state you live in. Here in Michigan we can just schedule it at a pharmacy. In some other states you do need a prescription. I scheduled mine and my husband’s for next week, no prescription required.
It varies state to state. I live in Michigan and had no problem scheduling Covid shots for myself and my husband for next week at CVS when I was on the computer this morning. Some other states require a prescription from your doctor.

A random pharmacist at a chain drug store will not be conducting respiratory tests. Some states are requiring prescriptions for a Covid shot, others are not. So in the states which are not, you can just schedule an appointment, make your claim, get your shot.

State laws for pharmacies vary. For an example, the drug gabapentin is not a controlled substance on a federal level, but is a schedule give controlled substance in seven states.
This is the list that was posted earlier today. Things are in flux, and there have already been changes in the list (Minnesota is apparently now offering the vaccines). So it is changing. If you find the original post, lots of updates in the comments.

We are actually having a surge right now. Earlier this year it was Nimbus (Razor Blade Throat) and now it is Stratus (XFG). Both descended from omicron. Emergency rooms in some parts of the country are seeing lots of covid patients.

They already scheduling appointments for this year’s updated flu vaccine at CVS. They cannot schedule for this year’s updated Covid vaccine until the vaccine is approved by the federal government.
They are waiting for federal government approval of this year’s vaccine.

Even a few of my coworkers in an inpatient hospital setting used to ask if I was still sick. Vasculitis, I will have it until I die barring some miracle medical breakthrough. 😞
If things get that bad, I will crawl out in the snow on a frigid night in my pajamas. Oddly, this decision brought me some peace and a lot less stress . Probably gave me a bit of control in a world out of control. Disabled and sixty.
