About effing time. Israel has been completely out of control since the first months of their response to October 7th. Any justification they once had for responding to the attack is long gone with their disproportionate reaction.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Good. He served well for many years, but we really need the Democrat gerontocracy to move on. I’m glad he’s not going to waste anyone’s time, energy or money on a primary fight.

…..and then the gorillas simply freeze to death over the winter….
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
This is like “urban ghetto gentrification” powered by a nuclear reactor. “Ethnic cleansing” on steroids. Total unapologetic white supremacy and colonizer mentality. Only upside is they are much more honest about their true intentions than the mediocre centrists that also support Israel’s actions.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
We need to be realistic & understand that about 1/3 of us are selfish, bigoted pricks, & about a 1/4 of us are full-out Nazis. After the progress of the 60s 70s 80s, more enlightened Americans convinced themselves that these bastards only made up single- digit percentages of our populous. WRONG!
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Dems would still be weak against Bibi, but they wouldn’t have been THIS conciliatory to Israel, not after the huge upsurge on the left condemning their coddling. Kamala and a Dem Congress could have at least begun to untangle Dems from Israel, now we have 2 war criminals collaborating on a genocide
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
It was ALWAYS going to be something like this with Trump + Netanyahu. The “uncommitteds” had every right to apply pressure right up until election day, but anyone who failed to vote for Kamala, just as a *basic harm reduction action*, bears some responsibility for this escalating bloodshed. 1/
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Either we force the DNC to evolve or we cut it off and let it die, replacing it with an entirely new organization. We can do this without abandoning the Democrat name; Obama basically sidestepped the establishment & Hillary entirely in 2007-08. If the DNC won’t evolve, we must go around it ASAP!
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
You’re absolutely right! I also love that you’re coming at this from my Mainer’s perspective rather than anything remotely “urban elite intelligencia.” Making the Democratic Party responsive to people’s needs doesn’t mean everyone must be AOC, but it does mean people not beholden to the mega-rich.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Very nice stuff! I feel like there’s a touch of Hank Ketcham in there!
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Now maybe they can have a tiny taste of what it feels like for us, dealing with all of their endless baseless lies, seemingly impervious to fact-checking.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Trump dying is like JD Vance fucking that couch; Even if it isn’t true, it’s fun to think about, and even more fun to keep repeating at indignant MAGATs who suddenly want to claim the moral high ground after years of being depraved sexist Nazis. 1/2
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Maybe. I’m on my phone right now, not near my PC where I watched it so I can’t exactly pull up a link right away. I just thought it was odd & out of left field for somebody to be making a Trump death prediction video. Now over the last few hours social mierda is blowing up with this sort of talk…
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Not a chance in hell he could actually reach it
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
This woman claims to have previously had visions of people not yet dead appearing in her vicinity, then later on in a few weeks or months, those people had passed on. Her guess was Trump was going to pass within the next month or so. That was the first I’d heard of any Trump death talk lately….
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Not saying this actually indicates anything, but a couple of days ago I stumbled onto some “psychic spiritualist“ lady on YouTube who had just posted a video claiming that she saw the shambling ghost of Trump walking through her home, clad in nothing but a thick cloth diaper. 1/2
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I like to think of it as a form of spell-casting. Maybe if millions of people around the world all envision it at the same time, it will help make it manifest.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Cue that hag Kellyanne Conway, “And to think, people threw a fit when I *tucked my bare feet* up onto that couch!”

I can’t wait until we revive the old Saturday Night Live joke about the dictator Francisco Franco of Spain. This time we’ll have a “homegrown“ version.

As a longtime hodler of $GME, I’m pretty inured to flimsy hopes that then get dashed. That said, I’m still hodling. I can stay retarded longer than he can stay alive.

A lot of these people stanning for AI today weren’t even born before 9/11. The younlings don’t know a world without digital being the primary method of doing anything, so to a lot of them AI is just the latest & greatest tool for making what they see in their mind’s eye come to life.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I remember those days. Honestly, I think some of this is just generational naivete. As an artist who started out with traditional materials & then went digital, I think a lot of people that claimed Photoshop & Illustrator somehow discredited your skill were people who grew up in the 20th century.

Between this and the storyboard depicting him using a nuclear test to power the DeLorean, I feel like Lucas completely cribbed this for Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I guess in this case they’d have to recruit Thomas F. Wilson (Biff Tannen) to play the part. Except the actor actually hates Trump and probably wouldn’t go along with it.

We also need to have a lot of dinner table/car ride-type chats w/ family & friends, making sure they are aware of what this is about & why it’s important to support Proposition 50. Don’t let it be “some abstract election thing” that seems too complicated or pointless to them! It’s easy to spell out!
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
My biggest fear is that underinformed or overly idealistic people will fall for the propaganda trying to discourage them from supporting this bill because it would “make us as bad as they are.“ In this case, the principle of “2 wrongs don’t make a right“ doesn’t hold water. This is sadly needed!
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social)
My fellow Californians; make sure you’re registered to vote THIS FALL and vote to support PROP 50, the Counter-Gerrymandering move to thwart Texas’ undemocratic action! We’ve got an important direct role to play in stifling the Trump takeover of democracy! 🇺🇸 🐻

I’m hoping Katie Porter will be the next governor, and that she’ll take things in a more economically progressive & populist direction. I’ve had more than my fill of corporate bought-and-sold DINOs. i’d like to see the state restored to something that normal people can enjoy, not just the rich.

For a judge to say that about another judge with whom they are serving is beyond the pale. Even the right wing creeps on the Supreme Court don’t shit-talk their colleagues. Decorum is dead.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I don’t believe in electing judges, they should be appointed. And judges should not be opining about left or right ideology while serving on the bench. We need to get back to jurists who might hold whatever personal views they have, but who rule based on the letter of the law & the evidence.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m actually praying for a tech crash to send all of these AI worshiping psychopaths back to whatever dimension they crawled out of, & for this state to rebalance its economic base on a more diverse array of businesses / industries. It just feels like there’s a lot of really bad structural problems.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I’d probably feel more positive about California and Gavin if it felt like he and the Democratic establishment in this state were more progressive when it comes to dealing with wealth inequality and lack of opportunities for advancement for people outside of the tech or media field. 1/2
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
That said, I would never live in a red state backwater, unless it was a purple cusp state that I thought my vote & local “get out the vote” activism might help swing into the blue column. But there are plenty of other solidly blue states that are more livable than California.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
You must be an heir, or have a high income/net worth. It is absolute HELL trying to survive here on what would be respectable middle class wages in most other states. The wealth inequality & unaffordability are soul-crushing. Also, virtually all the friends I made here have moved away, it just sux
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
The ownership of these media outlets must have decided that the dictatorship is inevitable, and that the only sane business strategy is to play nice to stay un-defenestrated. MSNBC (which is being spun off from real NBC) is one of the few who don’t seem to pull punches about what’s going on.

Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I’ll give him credit for effectively trolling Trump and mimicking his retarded online behaviors, and the one really good substantive thing Gavin is doing is pushing the counter-gerrymandering effort. But he’s NOT presidential material. CA is a mess, not bcuz Fux News says so, because I’ve lived it.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Gavin is a privileged princeling of the SF old money elites. An opportunistic limousine liberal who stages great publicity stunts but has not been an effective mayor or governor. I’ve been watching this greasy MFer since th early 2000s. He’s “better than Trump” but that’s not the bar we need to use.

She can go back to castrating pigs, though she’s been collaborating with castrated Republicans who are now eunuchs to Trump, so is there really much difference?
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Darn. I was really looking forward to her getting blown out by a Dem or independent challenger. The odds of the GOP hanging onto that Senate seat went up now that it’ll be a face off between two new faces. Still winnable, but Iowans need a candidate who can get crossover votes.

I honestly could not believe the Capitol Police were not opening fire on people once they started physically attacking them. Screaming and yelling and rattling the fences was all free speech, but once they started hitting & kicking cops to breach the perimeter, it shouldn’t been bang-bang time.

My mother adored the Kennedys, and was devoted to serving in the Public Health Service. She would be absolutely disgusted and enraged at what RFK Jr. has become and the harm he is inflicting upon our once-amazing public health system. He is a walking squawking disgrace.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
True. I was saying throughout 2022-23 that grassroots local Dem groups needed to be organizing squads of volunteers to do outreach/assist with paperwork/provide rides to offices for folks who face hurdles getting through the logistics of obtaining legally required IDs for their state elections.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
He seems like one of those twee “I’m smarter than the top pundits on EITHER side of the aisle!” types who smirk & opine weird takes that equate to “MAGA cult members are outta control, but maybe woke Dems should stop talking about trans & instead embrace trad natalist stuff, so as to mend fences?”
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Most of the time I’m all in favor of correcting erroneous assumptions or beliefs, but I’m glad to keep quiet if Repubs & centrists want to push the idea that taking away VBM hurts conservative candidates. If enough right-wingers believe they’ll be disenfranchised maybe it will stop DT killing VBM.

I fuckin’ love it. We the People reject this tyranny. And as they keep pushing upon us absurdities in order to enable atrocities, we must push back with even greater force.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I fully support the efforts of people like David Hogg who are ready to go around them. He tried to work from the inside, and they immediately hosted him when he didn’t go along with their lukewarm gruel approach to shit. All of us must take control of state & local races for the midterms & beyond.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Obama doing that didn’t mean that he “wasn’t a real Democrat” in fact, he proved to be almost as meddling and establishment as Hillary. The point is he didn’t wait his turn or gradually try to push the DNC, he went around them. 2/
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
We need to stop thinking that they are the ultimate gatekeepers & start working around them. That happened when Obama ran for office. Remember how 2008 was set aside for Hillary? (That was the first “her turn”). Obama DGAF & instead created his own fundraising platform and out maneuvered the DNC. 1/
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
We’ve pretty much reached the point where it’s time for those of us opposed to this shit to be the ones who do things that are “shocking.” The biggest mistake the right is making is assuming that the left is weak & frightened. Shit is gonna hit the fan & we’ll see what real Americans are made of.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Pretty much the entire right wing has been nothing but a bunch of cartoon villains since at least the Dubya Bush administration. Though there were plenty of them even in the days of Gingrich and Reagan as well.

He’s definitely trying to become a full on dictator, while also stage-managing the news cycle to try to “blast the zone with bullshit” enough to cover for his criminality and incompetency. It’s both/and.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Trump acts on impulse & is demented, but like a simple animal, he also has strong instincts that serve him well on a basic survival basis. Trump understands just enough of the authoritarian playbook to thrust and stumble in its direction, even if it’s haphazard. 2/3
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I believe it’s kind of a Both/And situation, and has been ever since his 1st administration. The only reason there seemed to be some order to that first one was the more-established government hands in that White House. 1/3

Graham Platner, THAT’S his name! Was too half-asleep to remember his name. Gotta boost this guy for sure!
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Exactly! Which is why those of us who don’t have our heads up our asses need to keep working to “take control of the wheel” so to speak of the Democratic Party itself. I refuse to let compromised old fools & tools claim sole ownership of this party. I’m a lifelong Dem and I don’t support weakness.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Define “Dems.“ Plenty of Democrats back Mamdani. We need to stop defining “Dems” as the solely the DNC or whoever Schumer / Pelosi have anointed. Either the Democratic base salvages this party, or we cast it aside entirely to start something new. But we’re not just going to just lie down.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Silly me, with those two I assumed incompetence when I should’ve been thinking bad faith grifting.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Maybe folks should be looking into some of the other candidates for the Democratic nomination, such as that oyster farmer guy. Not only does he seem to be pretty genuine with deep roots in Maine, he’s definitely not the DNC establishment pick. Those both sound like really good selling points.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I don’t understand why groups like 50501 think organizing a big march every 2 1/2 months is even close to enough. We need to be doing weekly mass marches in the tens of millions, something proportionate to what South Korea & Israel have done when confronting massive corruption in their countries.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
There are a lot of wet blankets who want to keep pushing the narrative that Democrats are trapped by the gerontocracy and nobody has anything to offer except “we’re against Trump.“ That’s a dated take pushed by the MSM and Twitter dolts who want to drag down the left. Open your eyes and look around.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
The transformation is underway. People need to stop pretending there are no younger or energetic Democrats. Not only are there a number of great up-and-comers already in office around the country, there are a number of interesting and exciting candidates running for various offices next year. 1/2
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
The point is, the courts have been “deferring to the executive branch“ far too much. Unitary Executive Theory is bullshit, and it’s time for state & local leaders to start forcing the issue. We’re not going to get out of this without pushing back, either legally, or if necessary, extra-legally.

I would hope the recent (and ongoing) lesson of Brexit would, like a child who insists on touching a hot stovetop, serve as enough of a deterrent to letting malicious motherfuckers like Farage anywhere near power. I’m honestly amazed he hasn’t been criminally charged yet.

Any attempt to make an unironically entertaining film or show with AI will fail. The only entertainment to be wrung out of AI “animation” is the unintentional nightmarish visual & logical errors on clear display. Slop “entertains” only as an eerie cautionary warning against digital hubris.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I’d just be happy if they keep pushing visually innovative feature animation after Sony/Spiderverse kicked studios out of 2000s-era visual stagnation. 3D over the past 6-7 years has become much more diverse & interesting than it’s been since the early ‘00s. So done with everything looking similar.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I think for now this is actually driven by Trump wanting to consolidate his control before midterms could return Dems to any sort of power to investigate/hinder/undermine his actions. He knows he can’t stay in power past 2028 unless he completely destroys the Constitution, so he’s focused on that.

I support the death penalty because I believe in removing from the population those who would choose to kill others for no justifiable reason. That said, I DO NOT trust this regime, which is led by a power-mad tyrant with no moral core, with justly carrying out the death penalty.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I support the death penalty for people who can be 110% absolutely indisputably proven guilty of cold blooded murder based on hard i disputable evidence (NOT just witness testimony or even video which can now be faked) but I also recognize the DP is not effective at deterring most murderers. 1/2

It’s maddening because we all want clear conclusive answers but even when sticking to trusted sources with good historic track records, the claims are all over the place. I’ll wear an N95 when I’m sick (with any coughing/spewing thing, regardless of testing) and otherwise use my judgement.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I believe N95/KN95 masks are decent at protecting both oneself and others. But then I’ve seen after-action reposts from seemingly legit established news outlets claiming the data has now proven masks were pretty much ineffective. Different studies that seem rigorous claim different things. 1/
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I fear it will be decades until we have any hope of reestablishing widespread public trust in health authorities. Meanwhile, people end up falling for quackery and conspiracy bunk and become even more distrustful of ANY authority that doesn’t appeal to their biases. 😞
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
People ended up thinking that even the “good guys” who were trying to protect people were tripping over themselves and overpromising things in regards to the efficacy of masks, distancing, and eventually vaccines. 4/
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
There was repeatedly shifting and contradictory messaging on masking, esp. which types of masks were capable of doing what, and then the whole aborted effort at “contact tracing” set off surveillance state 1984 vibes in a lot of people even though it was barely implemented in the end. 3/
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
I recognize that it was a novel virus and certain assumptions about virility, transmissibility etc. were imperfect if well intentioned. But there was some straight-up illogical and self-contradictory stuff that really derailed critical trustworthiness early on. It’s not just Trump who eroded it. 2/
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
The anti-vaxx paranoia & deliberate disinformation was (and remains) out of control, but as someone strongly on the side of evidence-based science, I will note that the public health authorities messed up on a lot of the messaging. This isn’t just Monday morning quarterbacking, 1/

Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
To be fair, I’m not blaming it all on just Gavin. It’s the cancerous growth of the tech industry & generalized US wealth inequality, structurally reinforced by the evisceration of organized labor & corporate regulatory capture that got us here. But Gavin is part of the problem, not the solution.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
The only way this works long-term is if it’s paired with an immense well organized & well funded hospital network staffed w/ competent mental health & drug treatment staff to help these people become as functional as possible in a compulsory treatment environment. Anything less is just abusive.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
You must have a pretty good income level if you feel like this state is it all functional. Affordability & wealth inequality are at dystopian levels far beyond any other state. I’m making the most I ever have in my life & still living like a goddamn college student barely covering basic expenses.
Funkybat - Kevin W. (@funkybat.bsky.social) reply parent
Agreed. Though regardless of rhetorical style or tone/tenor, I’d take Pritzker over Gavin any day. Illinoisans seem pretty happy with his leadership. I don’t think too many Californians would say that about Gavin.
