Studies repeatedly show that most people age out of "hardcore" crime by their late 30s and 40s. And nobody is "born to be" a criminal. Even Trump, who is a hardcore criminal who has not aged out of his illicit behavoir, was not born like this. I blame his parents.

I homeschooled for one year (first year of Covid) and one month (January Omicron outbreak). This year we have one kiddo in public school and one homeschooling. This time the homeschooling is not out of medical necessity, and is WAY more fun to plan. Also, math is fun now, and visual!

One of the worst parts of complex trauma is malignant shame. “Malignant” speaks to how harmful it is—I’ve even seen it described as “the mental health equivalent of cancer.” Malignant shame is also a predictor for trauma developing into psychosis, which makes a ton of sense to me now.
I could have written this. Covid and health issues kept me more isolated than I needed to be and amplified the shame & self-loathing.

This is why I do not like when they are lauded as heroes due throwing their bodies on each other. The body/brain responds to trauma in a myriad of ways. We should not create complexes for kids who peed themselves, froze, didn’t know what to do, etc.

Healthcare companies will always try to maximize profits. They make nothing by trusting doctors and their patients. They automate so that people without energy and time will forgo services. So they can get richer. None of it is for us.
All of this is labor pushed onto the consumer, AKA the sick person who by definition had less time and energy than a well person. So when I hear that AI will streamline these processes, all I see are more denials, more forms, more faxing, more work for me.
Without AI “careful selection” of healthcare “benefits,” I am still receiving letters from the insurance company asking if I need to be on the medications I am on, that my doctor says I need. This requires me getting my doctor to fill out a new form and send it to the insurance company.
Kids aren’t just numbers, they’re not mere extensions of their parents, and they’re not shapeless pieces of clay to be molded as authority figures choose. They are their own people, capable of curiosity and love, and far more complexity and insight than adults may give them credit for.

I *will* get vaccinated of course, but every high-risk person in the U.S. just had a big protective layer of public health torn away.
As a high-risk individual with several diseases, the vaccine isn’t that great for me if the other people in my house (kids are school-aged, husband is a teacher) cannot receive it.
