Well, that was anticlimactic.
I have to drive 45 minutes to get the train at all. Thanks for nothing, Scott Walker. (Took the Borealis to St Paul in June, very enjoyable. When my folks were still in CO, I occasionally took the Zephyr both ways.)
I'm incredibly frustrated by the fact that we could do it if we wanted to. There are other countries in the world that have a lot of land and have managed high speed rail. The fact that we don't have it is a matter of will, not technology.

I see a lot young folks on Tumblr weaponizing the idea of consent, to the point where they’re like, oh, nobody can wear leather at Pride because I didn’t consent to see that. Maybe…don’t go if you have a problem? Or get used to being uncomfortable, when you live in a society with other people?
I’ve been doing some learning on marital property so I keep seeing “martial law” as “marital law” and getting very confused about why it involves the National Guard.

I’ve been known to drive or take the Badger Bus over because it’s often more convenient timing and/or cheaper and/or more direct than MSN. I know people complain about DIA, but it’s much easier to navigate than Stapleton was. I do miss getting to see planes taxiing over the highway though.

I always ask, “Okay, you’ve been accused of a terrible crime and the press is all over it and everyone believes it and thinks you’re THE WORST. You want a lawyer? Then shut up about who deserves one.” That, and BFF says her job is to make sure prosecutors and cops follow the law.
And ours is a constitutional ban and our current legislature will never start the process to overturn, but at least two border states will keep it legal for the foreseeable future. Not ideal, but better than nothing.
Respect for Marriage Act prevails. Existing are still valid (at least federally) and states must offer full faith and credit to marriages that are valid in the state in which they were performed. So WI’s ban will mean no new marriages here but WI will have to recognize them from IL and elsewhere.

Yep that one too! Love when family law attys think an understanding of minor guardianship means they are experts in adult guardianship. There’s a post on the PD’s blog a couple of years back with a solid misunderstanding of how powers of attorney work (big mad they lost the appeal lol).

Are doing what their clients pay them for. Our role is to be a zealous advocate. That does not mean we endorse everything the client does.
You say that, but a lot of people drafting and presenting legislation aren’t lawyers. They usually (but not always) have legislative councils review, but those lawyers’ jobs are to do what legislators ask. And if you meant courts, judges mostly aren’t experts in this.
I don’t know whether it went anywhere; as a WI resident can confirm that non-dairy milks are still usually in the dairy section. Colby, our state cheese, is named after Colby, WI, where it was created! Fwiw.
Never forget that WI led the charge to take “milk” out of the name of things like nut or oat milks. I don’t think anyone is actually confused, but the dairy farmers like it and they like Sen Baldwin for taking it up. /
