The only times I see the vast majority of these terms used is in an academic type editorial online or in a newspaper. Rarely do I hear these terms in conversation with other Democrats or those running for office. Also, some of the terms are very appropriate and simplify language.

I agree. If there is no resolution by the time the election comes, then we must vote for redistricting. I would like us to gerrymander until we can change it nationally, but the voters here in California were pretty firm about independent commissions. That may change.
If this gerrymandering can be reversed legally, then voters here in CA should vote against our own redistricting in November and continue supporting our current independent commission. However, if the TX power grab holds, we all need to vote in favor of fighting fire with fire.
